Senior Buyer - Electrical Background Required

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Asian Supply Chain, this exciting, fast paced position is responsible for identification, sourcing and developments of new suppliers in the Asia-Pacific region required for the manufacture of Projection Systems by Christie Digital Systems.


The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and at least 3 years working in a high tech manufacturing environment.


The Senior Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and management of Suppliers. The person will be responsible for creating and maintaining a supply chain strategy for multiple diferent suppliers and commodities. The Senior Buyer must also follow established purchasing policies and procedures and optimize price, delivery and terms through excellent relationship management of suppliers to ensure best value and continuous and reliable supply of goods and services to Christie.

Accountabilities:

1. According to identified needs (factory location supports, cost reduction, mitigate current risks in supply chain, supply chain improvement) recommend the right new supplier candidates for review.
2. Provide supply chain leadership to the organization by using industry best practices.
3. Create and streamline the implementation of the supplier strategy for the portfolio based on industry and market trends and conditions.
4. Ensure that Christie suppliers receive up to date information and documentation to allow them to meet Christie requirements.
5. Drive cost reduction activities both within the organization and the external supply chain.
6. Partner with Global Supplier Quality to ensure that the quality of goods and services meet Christie specifications, and facilitate resolution of issues with suppliers.
7. Ensure that only qualified suppliers are used in supplying Christie components and materials.
8. Assess new suppliers for business fit, financial stability and ensure that they will provide best overall value to Christie.
9. Ensure adherence to and compliance with Christie standards, objectives and strategies.
10. Ensure purchase order commitments are in-line with Christie standards.
11. Create flexible, responsive and robust supply chains.
12. Keep abreast of technology advancements and modern purchasing techniques in portfolio being managed.
13. Remain current in knowledge of cost drivers and lead times within the portfolio to take advantage of opportunities or mitigate risks to Christie.
14. Identify and mitigate any supply chain risks.
15. Must adhere to ISO and J-SOX procedures.

Responsibilities Include:

1. Negotiate prices and make contract commitments with established and new suppliers.
2. Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain quotes, and support programs to meet business needs.
3. Support all up-front Engineering activities to ensure early supplier involvement.
4. Perform regular contract review with key suppliers relating to drawings, specifications and overall ways of working.
5. Perform supplier audits to create and manage gap lists and to identify opportunities and threats.
6. Hold regular business review sessions with key suppliers.
7. Negotiate and implement supply agreements with key suppliers, where appropriate, through knowledge of contracts and global contract law with involvement of Christie legal counsel.
8. Work closely with Global Supplier Quality and Engineering to ensure that the suppliers selected are of high calibre and able to support Christie strategic objectives.
9. Work closely with Inbound Logisticians to ensure Christie maintains an effective supply chain and ensure timely delivery of materials to the factory.
10. Work closely with NPI Supply Coordinators to ensure successful launch of new projects.
11. Understand and proactively communicates the Suppliers' capabilities, products and technologies.
12. Mentor supply chain team members.
13. Ability and willingness to travel both nationally and internationally, as required. Establish quarterly travel plans and submit for approval in collaboration with key stakeholders.
14. Consistently administer day-to-day activities and parameters required of the Christie ERP and PLM systems including, Purchase Orders, ECOs and system updates and maintenance.
15. Other assigned duties as required from time to time.

Education:
University Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing, or Engineering

Specialized Skills:
1. Fluent in English (reading, writing and speaking)
2. Strong negotiating skills
3. Strong leadership and people management skills (objective setting, coaching, conflict resolution, motivating, facilitating, delegating, mentoring, etc.)
4. Ability to create and present a business case
5. Ability to perform a financial analysis of a supplier
6. Ability to perform a commercial analysis of changes at a supplier
7. Ability to create and manage a project plan
8. Ability to create and manage a gap-list for prints, specs and supplier audits
9. Ability to be on the pulse of all changes in the industry.
10. Display a professional manner at all times when dealing with suppliers.
11. Strong and proven verbal and written communication skills (effective with the right level of detail).
12. Strong multi-tasking capability.
13. Strong project management skills (prioritization, scheduling, etc.)
14. Understandings of overall process requirements.
15. Ability to lead a problem-solving team.
16. Ability to take complex problems and break them into manageable elements for effective problem solving.
17. Must be self-directed.
18. Proven proficiency in supplier management.
19. Ability to interface well with all SBU Engineering, Global Supplier Quality, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Sustaining Engineering.
20. Demonstrated experience working with SBU Engineering, Global Supplier Quality, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Sustaining Engineering and Suppliers to provide components and assemblies that meet or exceed specified requirements.
21. Demonstrated experience measuring and improving supplier performance.
22. Knowledge of common business software applications (ERP/MRP, Word, Excel, Document Management, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint etc.).
