Advanced Specialist Materials Development Interior

Employment – full time

Tasks

- Responsible for material development and process engineering of interior surface materials

- Identifies potential suppliers

- Sets standards and requirements for materials

- Monitors and evaluates suppliers material performance

- Responsible for materials testing and analysis of local CN materials

- Responsible for timely and targeted escalation of critical issues if necessary

- Researches innovative materials and technologies for potential predevelopment projects

Key Responsibilities

- Technical supplier qualification and reporting to project circles due to series development (LSV's, norms and standards, materials, manufacturing processes, test requirements, cooperation in accordance with development process (ItO))

- Qualification and sign-off of project related materials in the BMW/BMW Brilliance Automotive systems

- Qualification of local materials by initiating and monitoring material testing and analysis materials for component

- Technical support for industrialization of materials-related issues

- Initiate and monitor material testing and analysis local materials for component

- Creation of new material specifications

- Local support problem solving material and manufacture process issues during series production

- Qualification of local suppliers / institutions to execute BMW standard material tests

- Adaptation requirements of materials for local market use case

Qualifications

- Knowledge of the production of dashboard and door panel interior surfaces

- Knowledge of surface testing methods (ideally of components interior)

- Knowledge of plastic polymers material engineering

- Knowledge of specific supplier processes (Vacuum forming, injection moulding / lamination, skincoat process)

- Knowledge of international standardization processes of materials, material specifications and sign-off procedures (DIN EN, ISO, GS, QV, etc.)

- Failure analysis, assessment of components, requirements management (QMS)

- Understanding of color and grain styling, surface matching, quality rating

- Knowledge of color and grain development

- Audit preparation and participation

- Analytical thinking, structured approach to tasks, presentation of findings, Microsoft office skills

- Extensive experience in materials development of foil and/or skincoat in addition with grain development, 4-6 years
