Position Responsibilities:

This position is based in Osaka, Japan.
SPECIFICATION DEVELOPMENT:
· Clarifies customer specification, requirements, issues and outcome with customer and internal team
· Develop product specification together with customer and internal team (esp. program managers) if efficient spec is not available
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT, CAD DESIGN, DRAWING CREATION (design work with goal to meet customer and Southco specifications):
· Designs (CAD) and creates concepts and production parts towards customer and internal specification considering program goals in the area of cost, quality and time lines (from initial acquisition to formal program to launch)
· Ensures DFA and DFM (esp. injection molding process) are integrated in product design (in conjunction with manufacturing engineering support). This includes the use of existing best-in-class concepts and components (i.e. LSP - latch system platforms)
· Makes complete tolerance analysis on all interfering features (sub assembly and customers application)
· Support Engineering Supervisor and Program Management in initial concept development during program acquisition and RFQ processes
TECHNICAL PROGRAMN MANAGEMENT (Southco-customer-supplier), incl. quality documentation and considering goals for cost, quality and time lines:
· Organize and leads project meetings (technical aspects) to ensure program requirements are met, initiate team tasks (ie. preparation of cost estimates, testing, quality tasks…) in regards to program needs
· Organizes leads and manages Design FMEA activities. Ensures that D-FMEA is up-to-date throughout the program
· Creates test plans on basis of customer and Southco requirements and supports product evaluation department to achieve results in a timely manner to the quality level required. Ensures that program requirements are met with designed product. Communicates design issues to Transportation management team.
· Supports manufacturing engineering on technical issues (product specification, i.e. material selection, etc.), tooling requirements and vendor support
· Provides supply chain management team with relevant technical data so that sourcing procedures (RFQ) can be executed and successfully finished. Ensures that product and program specification changes are reported in time.
· Supports supply chain management group and manufacturing engineers in technical review meeting with supply base (ie. design and process reviews)
· Ensures that product development process follows PRO-04 requirements and APQP elements. Maintains APQP documentation when required. Manages/maintains/supports required technical customer documentation (as per customer specification).
· Supports Engineering Supervisor and Program Managers on technical program management issues
· Gives younger group members guidance on technical program management issues (i.e. use of certain documents). Shares gained experience with team members to prevent potential failures
TECHNICAL CUSTOMER INTERACTION (engineer-to-engineer relationship):
· Ensures strong relationship to customer engineering departments to be part of the overall customer program team
· Visits appropriate customer engineers to check the project status in regards of the program requirements (application/product specification, cost - if applicable, quality, time lines)
· support Southco and customer thru required changes
LAUNCH AND AFTER LAUNCH SUPPORT:
· Supports quality engineer in completing PPAP/EMPB documentation
· Supports PSW
· Ensures that prototype, pre-production and production (initial) build dates and requirements are met towards expected quality goals and time lines

Requirements:
· Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical Automation is preferred;
· Minimum 3 years' working experience in Automotive Industry. Experienced in DFMEA, PPAP, Design Engineering and project management, etc .
· A good team player with good interpersonal skills. Good problem solving skills;

·Japanese speaking

Good English skill in reading and writing, speaking skill preferred.
