The Joint Venture

IMAX and TCL have formed a JV to design, manufacture, market and provide content for high end home theatre systems.

This position reports to the CEO of the JV and is accountable for the offshore JV entity + for all other entities in China”

Key Responsibilities:

? Provide leadership and oversight of th JV HR function including assessing, developing and implementing Human Resource strategies that are aligned with the JV’s strategic plan.
? Work closely with the JV’s senior leadership team to identify critical talent/manpower needs and prepare and execute appropriate recruitment strategy.
? Manage the development and delivery of a compensation and benefits strategy, structures and related processes for the JV employees.
? Develop, implement and manage HR policies, programs and practices and ensure alignment with overall business strategy and objectives of the JV.
? Ensure the design of JV HR programs and policies reflect market best practices relevant to the JV’s operations and conform to legal requirements and obligations.
? Design and implement an appropriate Performance Management framework for China that rewards contribution against achievement of defined performance and business objectives.
? Provide support, guidance, coaching, education and direction to the JV’s employees on all HR matters including recruitment, orientation and retention, compensation and benefits, training & development and organizational design & development.
? Work with Finance and and monitor all JV payroll related activities.
? The successful candidate will be expected to leverage and build upon existing human resource programs from IMAX Corporation and TCL, as well as create new processes and programs to support the JV’s business strategies as well as facilitate the change associated with a growth company.
? Direct services and activities including maintenance of facilities, structures, HVAC systems, equipment, grounds, security, housekeeping and utility systems. This involves design, estimating, budget preparation, development of written specifications, solicitation of bids, coordination and supervision of work.
? Develop, implement and administer facilities policies, processes and procedures.
? Develop plans for utilizing the space/facilities including coordination of internal and external resources to effectively meet the timing of office moves or office space planning.
? Oversee facilities capital planning and improvements; work with other senior management and stakeholders to develop, coordinate and complete capital projects.
? Coordinate procurement of equipment, supplies and materials.
? Manage lease administration and ensure lease documentation is in order.
? Manage Reception services and the procurement of stationary, office supplies and business cards.
? Oversee the administration related to travel management.
? Conduct on-going facility reviews to ensure common area and work spaces meets building standards and safe work practices.
? Provide on call operational support for emergencies and after hour escalations.

Requirements:

? A University Bachelor degree ideally with a business concentration and/or Human Resources designation;
? A human resources generalist with a minimum of seven years’ experience including support of a business unit(s) and expertise in related areas of human resources such as: attraction and retention, compensation & benefits, organization development, or training & development. Exposure and experience to international HR would be an asset;
? Three to five years experience in facility management working within a corporate office building environment;
? Proven abilty to drive and develop a consistent culture within an organization
? Demonstrated ability to work effectively with management through a pro-active customer focused approach, responding to the operating and bottom-line needs of the business;
? Previous JV experience preferred. Ideally the candidate has been part of the JV set-up as an HR leader;
? An excellent communicator, with the ability to operate effectively at all levels of the organization and act as a bridge between 2 companies;
? Action-oriented, possessing a high degree of energy and initiative and known to have a knack for getting things done. The individual should be tenacious and resourceful in combination with strong organizational skills;
? Creative Problem-Solver: can assimilate information from a variety of sources to reach a logical conclusion. Equally ready and comfortable to make decisions and commit oneself or take action;
? Versatile and flexible, able to adapt to an evolving business/culture and possessing a perspective appropriate to working in a global firm;
? Proven abilities and interest in both strategic Human Resources as well as tactical, hands-on Human Resources;
? Experience in negotiating building service contracts and managing service level agreements;
? Some travel to our other locations will be required.
? Bilingualism in English and Chinese required
