Position Summary:

The Product Cost Engineer's primary role will be to work with our factories in Asia to document & validate all direct processes and related costs necessary to mass-produce golf clubs on a per project basis. The engineer will document cost reduction and validation activities before, during, and after the launch of new products. Stake holders for this role are Carlsbad HQ Sourcing, Engineering, & External Suppliers - with direct exposure and an open communication channel to the key decision makers in the US.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities:

- Validate accuracy and content of supplier direct cost inputs at all periods in a projects life cycle (Development, Industrialization, Mature Production, Cost-Down)
- Perform Gap analysis on current v.s. optimal state in production process
- Evaluate direct costs of new processes proposed for new products during research and development phase
- Evaluate direct costs of specific Tier-1.5 and Teir-2 component suppliers and service providers
- Research and evaluate alternative mass production methods to counteract rising labor and material costs
- Lead development of process maps and productivity studies
- Support specific queries related to material usage and production yields
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required

Education, Training, Professional Certification and Work Experience:

- B.S. in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- 5+ years experience working in manufacturing/engineering environment
- Experience working on individual and team projects with successful results
- Understand fundamentals of Win-Win sourcing as it pertains to relationships with partner suppliers/factories

Knowledge and Skills Requirements

- Must be familiar with a variety of manufacturing processes and materials pertaining Golf Club production
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to accommodate needs of internal departments and outside suppliers.
- Has demonstrated ability work independently and with determination to reach business objectives
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is required
- Lean Manufacturing experience also a plus
- Ability to develop new processes based on academic research or multi-industry best-practices
- Understanding of managerial accounting, finance, and global economics a plus

Required Travel

Frequent travel required to vendor locations in China to analyze development projects (Phase II), processing qualification (Phase III), and production startup (phase IV). Travel to foreign vendors located in Taiwan & Vietnam, approximately but not limited to 4 - 6 times per year.
