Overview Description

? PURE’s product development group is a dynamic environment, where fast-paced product development cycles and aggressive time to market requirements are the norm. Expansion of the department has led to the requirement for a Project Manager to join the team at Shenzhen office.

? The Project Manager will take on full responsibility to develop products from initial concept to mass production and deliver to the market. The products are consumer electronic items, such as Digital / Internet radios, Wireless speakers, home Audio/Visual and mobile computing.

? This is an influential role, you will be involved at the core of PURE’s Product Development process, helping to define the products plans and delivering innovative products to the global market.

? Liaising with multi-functional teams and managing manufacturing suppliers to support the complete product developments cycle

? Specifying, planning and driving product developments within a formal phase review process

Primary Role Responsibility

? Management of product development: The primary task is to personally own and deliver a number of concurrent projects from cradle to grave. These projects will vary in their scale and complexity. Some projects will require the successful management and liaison of large multi-disciplined teams spread across the globe. Daily prioritisation of tasks and chasing progress. Confidently push tough decisions with factories and suppliers to get favourable things done.

? Management: Day to day management of Project Engineer, setting objectives, measuring performance, resolving issues. Spanning teams in the UK, international PURE offices and extending to manufacturing suppliers.

? Quality: Championing product development within a formal phase review process. Making improvements to increase quality and efficiency.

? Planning: Managing project plans, chasing deliverables, ensuring that objectives are met and reporting progress.

? Cost control: Generating budgets and business cases, managing expenditure, securing new suppliers and services, negotiating costs and ensuring that projects are delivered ‘on budget’.

? Reporting: Ensuring that project reports are maintained so that the management team are kept informed of progress and issues.

Required Skills

? 3 years+ project management experience with global teams in consumer electronics environment.

? Demonstrated track record in managing product development from concept through to manufacture - within extremely tight timescales and budgets.

? The ability to analyse and resolve problems, find solutions, make clear decisions and take responsibility for them.

? Working knowledge of certain contemporary development and manufacturing technologies, such as conceptual and ID design, generation of product specifications, mechanical design and manufacturing, PCB assembly, testing and evaluation, compliance and certification, etc.

? Excellent organization and communication skills to share project information efficiently between UK team, Shenzhen office and suppliers; distribute tasks to team members; report to Management and manage suppliers.

? Commercial experience of leading cost and payment terms negotiations, agreeing contracts, and managing supplier relationships.

Desirable Skills

? Working experience with factories in China and global suppliers

? Commercial experience of cost negotiating with 1st and 2nd tier suppliers

? Good learning and problem solving skill

? Working knowledge of CAD design tools such as Pro-Engineer

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in related disciplines such as Industrial design, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
