Position Purpose

The Mgr. Packaging position will lead a team a team of Engineers that will be reponsible for packaging

Engineering for imports accross The Home Depot enterprise. Responsibilities include initiating,

planning, executing, and controlling packaging projects to deliver departmental strategic objectives.

The senior packaging engineer will also participate in cross functional teams to support new product

introductions. Major tasks in this assignment include development of standard operating procedures,

definition of packaging quality protocol, and conducting risk assessments to guide business decisions.

As a subject matter expert in packaging, this position will also be required to support daily business

transactions to resolve packaging deficiencies. This will include significant interaction with

distribution, safety, merchandising, brand management, global sourcing offices, test & inspection

service providers, and suppliers. The senior packaging engineer will focused on more complex projects

with higher risks and business implications. The senior packaging engineer will report directly to the

manager of packaging.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

40% Partner wil key business partners to identify, plan, execute, and control packaging projects to

deliver strategic business needs for growth, productivity, and quality for all new product

indtroductions.

30% Develop packaging performance protocol and quality assurance standards.

20% "Advise and consult on packaging best practices to enhance business performance. Direct corrective

actions with service providers and vendors to resolve packaging issues."

10% Deliver training (internally and externally), tailored to the needs of the specific audience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years working experience in relevant field
- Bachelors degree in packaging engineering

"Desire advanced certifications (Project Management Professional, 6 Sigma, or

Certified Packaging Professional)"

- Operational experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment

Computer skills sufficient to retrieve, manipulate, analyze, interpret, and present data

- Excellent communication skills required. Need to clearly articulate packaging and process concepts to

business community through written and oral presentations.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge and experience with packaging physical property test and inspection. minimum 2 years

Experience providing packaging support for consumer new product development minimum 1 year

Engineering standards development / review / enforcement minimum 2 years

Cross functional, multi project management min 2 years experience

TRAVEL NEEDS
Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.
