Purpose
This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who likes working hands-on in electronic and mechanical design and reliability and product engineering.
Initially, the selected candidate will utilize his/her business acumen and engineering expertise and will be responsible for meeting and implementing cost reduction goals on existing products, but may aide in the design of new, lower cost products.
Solutions generated may require a great deal of ingenuity and creativity and often result in an innovative combination of existing knowledge and creation of new processes, products or services having a positive financial impact on JDSU.
The candidate will also support cost reduction driven re-sourcing activities, performing tasks such as First Article Inspection, and Supplier Evaluation.
Sustaining Engineering is a priority CommTest initiative for FY12 with aggressive COGS reduction goals, and progress is being reported to senior management. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to produce and present updates to project sponsors.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess the following qualifications or abilities:
? Experience in Supplier evaluation activity, and First Article Inspections (Required)
? Primary background in hardware with the ability to design, implement and verify receiver designs comprising discrete PLL's, VCO's, filters, amplifiers, etc. (Preferred)
? General knowledge across several disciplines including embedded SW/DSP, Digital, Mechanical (Preferred)
? Experience in developing a product through the entire lifecycle by gathering requirements to transitioning to operations
? Excellent demonstrated communication and project planning skills
? English and Chinese Language - verbal and written fluency
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE (Minimum)
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. Minimum 4 years directly related experience required. Higher level educational credentials with equivalent work experience a plus
