Position Summary:
Engineering and technical leader for the product category participating as a member of the core team responsible for the development of new products from initial concepts to product delivery. Primary focus is defining, developing and proving out product concepts and designs. In addition, this position includes working with Asian implementation team, to put all new products into production and verifying that they meet the Industrial Design intent and agreed upon product requirements and engineering specifications as tooled, qualified and produced in volume.
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for planning, management, and execution of all new product development projects for the Corded/Cordless product category, including:
o R&D,
o Design Engineering
o Product Requirements and Specifications
o Project scoping and risk assessment (Engineering)
o FMEA and DFMEA analysis
o Prototyping, Engineering Test plans & testing
o Design Reviews
o Tool Release, Engineering Builds
o Pilot runs through full scale Production.
· Responsible for R&D and Technology Development for the Garment Product Category. Is the primary technical liaison with all outside technology partners.
· Works with Marketing to evaluate new product concepts from end-user perspective and assess feasibility as an engineered product.
· Performs competitor product benchmarking and collaborates with quality team to define product performance metrics and test methods.
· Applies best practices in establishing and validating product requirements and specifications.
· Conducts internal and external design reviews and manages the execution of resulting action items.
· Collaborates with China Engineering team over tool development and engineering build requirements.
· Actively participates in program updates with executive management and issues action items to assigned team members.
· Works across global resources located in different time zones.
· Identifies and investigates new technologies for the category.
· Builds solid working relationships and cooperation skills with other personnel through effective communication.
· Works with Quality to prioritize and evaluate product returns and related tear down information for the category.
Experience:
· Must have a minimum of 15 years experience in an Engineering leadership role involving the design and development of complex integrated assemblies and or engineering systems.
· Must have 5+ years of on the job experience in high volume consumer products manufactured in Asia.
· Demonstrated experience as a leader of cross-functional teams in a matrix organization environment
Functional Skills/Knowledge
· Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) along with good sound interpersonal skills.
· Experience working effectively in a cross-functional team environment is essential.
· Detail-oriented, versatile, organized, articulate and professional.
· Able to cope with constant change and competing priorities and ability to juggle several projects simultaneously.
Education/Certifications/Affiliations
· Must have a minimum of a BS in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related science.
· MBA (preferred)
