SUMMARY

To create and provide design support for Umbra’s Design Team.
Liaison with designers in Canada to create new product designs as required.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1.Create new product designs to fulfill demand.
2.Communicate with designers in Canada on a regular basis to properly execute tasks.
3.Ensure the design intent and styling is executed to fulfill the design objectives.
4.Prepare technical drawings to accompany spec sheets.
5.Create prototypes/mock-ups as required.
6.Prepare renderings for meetings and presentation.
7.Communicate with vendors as required to properly develop designs for quoting and production.
8.Attend weekly conference calls with Toronto Category Managers.
9.Attend weekly project overview meeting with Product Development Associate.
10.Update Project Tracker docket notes and checklist.
11.Travel and attend trade shows, marketing meetings, vendor and client presentations as required to explore new development and market trends.
12.Make regular contact with local design community and institutions.
13.Conduct research to identify new product ideas, designs, materials and production techniques.
14.Assist with the design, layout and set-up of trade show and shop-in-shop displays.
15.Other job duties assigned as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENT

1.Post Secondary degree/diploma in Industrial Design.
2.Minimum 3 year working experience in related field and or in a creative and dynamic environment.
3.Excellent understanding of Western culture, quality requirements, and retailers/market.
4.Excellent command of oral and written English communication and literacy is a MUST.
5.Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
6.Excellent skills in Solidworks or other 3D data software.
7.Good understanding of Photoshop and Illustrator.
8.Proficient skill in Microsoft Office.
9.Flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment.
