Responsibilities:
? Participate in understanding and defining new market opportunities. Meet with customers to understand their specific needs and develop new product specifications.
? Take the lead in developing system concepts to meet new market and customer needs.
? Collaborate with other Engineers to translate concepts into new opto-mechanical devices and products. Responsible for design and development as a member of one or more development teams.
? Hands-on involvement in detailed CAD design, prototype construction and develop.
? Perform analysis of concepts and designs, particularly heat transfer simulations.
? Responsible for product documentation and transfer to manufacturing.
? Find and select new suppliers, materials, and fabrication methods to enable new designs.
? Measure and assess competitive system designs and patents.
Requirements:
Strong knowledge in conduction and convection heat transfer is highly desirable. That knowledge should include theory, computer simulation, measurement, and practical application.
? Must have at least four years experience using 3D (solids) computer-aided-design software, such as ProEngineer, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
? Must have familiarity with plastic molding, metal casting, machining, extrusions and sheet-metal.
? Basic understanding of electronics is required, particularly in sensors, low voltage power supplies, shielding and grounding, ESD, and EMI.
? At least five years work experience in the design and development of mechanical devices for industry.
? Demonstrated practical ability to develop systems which integrate mechanical and electronic elements. Experience integrating optics, light sources, and sensors are highly preferred.
? Must have experience developing products from initial concept through CAD design and simulation, prototyping, and to full production realization.
? Experience developing products for compliance with external regulations such as IEC and ISO is desirable but not required.
? Experience in project management is highly desirable.
? Must have a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
? An advanced academic degree in engineering is preferred but not required.
? Evidence of post-degree continued education and training is desirable.
Remark: This position is 6 months temporary, with the potential to transfer to permanent employee.
