Basic Purpose and Objective of Job:
To develop and implement strategic plans for assigned categories within the framework of a disciplined category management business process so as to achieve company's financial goals and objectives, improve market share, customer satisfaction and productivity performance measures for the company.
Principal Accountabilities:
Sales & Margin control:
1. Achieve category sales, gross profit and income goals and objectives of assigned categories through monitoringtrends within the market segments; developing strategies to grow the market share of assigned categories; and to plan strategies to counter competition.
2. Seek innovative products sourced throughout the world to provide newness and interest in company's offer.
3. Develop in liaison with the marketing department on attractive and interesting promotional events which follow promotion plan & calendar.
4. Work closely with retail and sales management to ensure that store layouts, promotions and display techniques are effective in maximising sales and profit from the specific merchandise categories.
5. Keep abreast of retail environment by paying regular visits to stores and competitors and take appropriate action to ensure competitive advantage is maintained.
6. Develop store group and item group to ensure customers' needs are satisfied in different localities.
7. Establish and maintain effective margin and price controls which maximize business profits whilst delivering agood value to the customer.
8. Negotiate and work with vendors to build mutually beneficial relationships to ensure long term strategic partnership, leading to lower costs and higher margin.
9. Maximize profit by utilizing category management techniques to manage assortments, pricing and promotion.
Stock control:
1. Develop and implement a good inventory management process so that there is an optimum product mix that focuses on customers' needs and the process achieves shrinkage reduction objective.
2. Manage stock levels and mark-downs to ensure that product availability is high yet ensure that cash flow is maximized by controlling stock levels in both warehouse and stores within set targets.
3. Establish and maintain effective SKU control.
Requires:
1. Diploma or degree holder, preferably university graduate in Business or related discipline
2. A minimum of 5years of category management experience, and/or brand management, trade marketing experience in the retailing industry or with FMCG products
3. Customer centred, energetic and action orientated
4. Operation focus, maintain effective co-operation with operations.
5. Strong influencing skills and communication skills.
6. Proficiency in English and Chinese.
7. Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
8. Good planning and organization skills.
9. Open to change and with flexibility.
