REPORTS TO:

Senior Project Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Development of new product concepts that could take the form of greeting cards or gifts with a primary focus on complex paper engineered products
2. In partnership with the print and technology vendors, investigate the feasibility of the creative design coupled with the technical integration to make a joint decision on product operation and performance
3. Oversee and proactively participate/make recommendations with paper construction reviews, technical analysis and technical negotiations
4. Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with internal clients and business partners to foster cross-functional communication and participation with regard to concept development
5. Oversee the mechanical and layout detail design process and drawing preparation being done by APDT and vendors – review and approve the deliverables
6. Ensures on time delivery of paper engineering files in each work center throughout the upfront development process
7. Provide value engineering input throughout the project and propose changes to the design and construction to reduce cost, enhance quality and shorten the project schedule
8. Troubleshoot engineering and construction problems as they arise
9. Works in collaboration with and provides clear and timely communication to all Vendors, Partners, Global Sourcing, Quality Control, Creative and the New Product Concepts team in the development of multiple programs
10. When required, proactively source new materials for product development
11. Provide each project with innovative thinking, problem solving skills and customer focus
12. Responsible for overseeing the development of manufacturing specifications. Assist with the creation of electronic digital templates, working with Paper Engineers and Technical Production Specialist
13. Perform quality analysis of products from manufacturing facilities ensuring product adheres to original concept
14. Approve prototype and technical specifications for production


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


1. High level of inter-personal, presentation, communication, written, personnel management & development skills
2. Team-oriented work ethic with ability to manage projects across a variety of skill sets and personalities with a passion for continuous improvement
3. Good understanding of equipment & operating costs in the printing and technology industry
4. Ability to multi-task on numerous projects simultaneously
5. Basic knowledge of Macintosh software including Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat. PC, Microsoft Office, database management
6. Must be willing to travel to project sites
7. Skilled in creative problem solving of raw new product ideas into working prototypes
8. Perform quality analysis of product from manufacturing facilities if required to ensure product adheres to original concept
9. Approve prototype and specifications (paper, material, inks, finishing, etc.) for production
10. Capable of interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments across various co-workers to accomplish tasks
11. Proactively investigate and self-educate for solutions to solve for challenging product development issues


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

1. 5+ years of experience in product development with electrical products is a plus;
2. Transferrable skills from previous work experiences that demonstrate the ability to quickly learn, adapt and apply new skills to required responsibilities
3. Proven troubleshooting and problem solving skills combined with good communication, collaboration and facilitation skills to process work accurately and timely
4. Good command of both spoken and written English
