Overview

Test hardware, firmware and/or software products and systems. Verifies that product operates as designed. Provides technical expertise in testing and product knowledge. Provides accurate estimates and reports of test progress. Writes Test Procedures and Test Plans.

Responsibilities

1) Perform testing to established test plans and procedures.
2) Learn standard testing methods appropriate for use at various stages of the design and development process. Learn product and product cost drivers.
3) Learn and develop proficiency with standard engineering tools.
4) Develop ability to recommend actions for maintaining test progress.
5) Perform basic root cause analysis with support from within department and/or from Engineering.
6) Complete test projects in a timely manner.
7) Perform basic data analysis. Document results in test reports.
8) Does not typically supervise anyone. May provide technical leadership to lower level test technicians.


Qualifications

Proficient with computers and experienced with spreadsheet and word processing programs.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Good planning and organizational skills.
Learns policies and procedures and how to apply them to issues experienced in routine activities. Learns and closely follows established processes and directions.
Employs education to develop basic job expertise.
Receives specific instructions on all assignments.
Receives Direct Supervision for routine work, projects or assignments.
Very limited requirement for decision making in role. Any decisions have limited impact on team effectiveness.
Work is reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
Impact of error is minimal and easily corrected.
Demonstrated proficiency allows testing to be properly executed.
Contributes primarily through execution of defined processes and procedures but may make suggestions for process improvement.
Resolves a variety of basic or introductory problems of limited complexity by following highly detailed instructions or procedures or performing rudimentary analysis involving consideration of limited and straightforward factors.
Able to resolve issues with the help of higher level engineers or manager.
Transmits and receives basic information related to role in order to carry out duties.
May have contact with stakeholders in order to resolve routine problems.
Builds productive working relationships internally, generally within immediate department or team.
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.
No prior experience required.
