Key Accountabilities

• Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for tools, jigs/fixtures and products, using 3D CAD packages.
• Lay out process flows for product manufacturing and production equipment and tooling.
• Generate robust part and assembly 3D models throughout the product development process from concept design through to mass production
• Generate and develop concept drawings and manufacturing details from appearance models and renderings, as well as production level surfaces and features for engineering and tooling
• Generate fully toleranced 2D detailed drawings for tooling suppliers prior to mass production for products with demanding geometric and cosmetic requirements
• Collaborate with the internal product development team on material selection, part design and manufacturing feasibility, along with the cosmetic requirements of new parts and tool designs
• Be responsible for the complete CAD database for new projects, ensuring all engineering changes are updated and documented
• Assist the product development team in the design & manufacture of dimensional and functional jigs/fixtures for tooling validation
• Participate in the product development process by assisting in the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis on client specifications & influence client specifications through design recommendations

Key Skills and Experience

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• 5+ years experience as a CAD or mechanical designer, delivering robust and feasible models featuring challenging tolerance and cosmetic requirements
• Experience resolving tolerance stack-up and interference issues on 3D models
• Proficiency in 3D CAD packages such as Pro E or Solidworks is essential
• Awareness of manufacturing processes including injection molding, metals fabrication and secondary finishing processes
• Experience in jig and fixture design for high volume consumer electronics
• Ability to work in a product development team of engineers as well as an ability to work independently
• Demonstrated problem solving skills and a creative, analytical and detail orientated work ethic
• Fluent in both Mandarin and English
