Position Description:

Microsoft Asia Center for Hardware (MACH) is a fast growing organization and a world leader in design, development and manufacturing of computer peripherals, Xbox Gaming and Zune music devices. MACH is currently looking for a senior System Engineer to lead its design activities.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

System Engineeing, HW and FW design and development from idea to final product

JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Candidate must be well prepared to innovate and lead embedded system design efforts, cooperate within and across groups and functions. Ideal candidate must demonstrate strong ownership and accountability, has excellent HW and FW design skills, enjoys learning, can effectively bring solutions to difficult problems, and has great attention to details. A strong candidate must be able to:

- Propose & define system architecture for embedded systems, ensure that designs meet established specifications, cost, timeline and development budgets. Can independently propose HW and FW solutions that meet challenting product user experience requirements.

- Has strong HW and/or FW design and debugging skills. Can independently implement new HW and/or FW designs from ground up, including component selection, schematic design, layout, DFX, protocol definition, FW architecture and FW implementation.

- Has strong root causing and analyzing skills. Able to effectively find ways to reproduce difficult problems, root cause and then find solutions.

- Has strong passion to provide best user experience from design. Has strong passion to come up with and prototype new ideas for best user experience. Able to translates user experiences into engineering specifications.

Job responsibilities:

- Propose, define and present new product ideas and system architecture for embedded systems.

- Lead group of engineers in development efforts. Implement or direct other engineers to develop FW and HW for embedded systems.

- Write design documents and conduct design reviews

- Manage project scope and risks. Ensure project delivery that meets Performance/schudeleCOGs/budget targets.

- Manage internal and outsourced development efforts.

- Collaborate with marketing, UX and technology teams and participate in project reviews.
