职位描述

Job Output:
This position manages the technical design process, developing creative design oriented aesthetics and functionality solutions for key ceiling market drivers / needs. Responsibilities include concept development, prototyping, endorsement, and execution support. This position routinely interacts with sales, marketing, product managers, new product development resources, installation specialists, manufacturing leaders, architects, interior designers, vendors, and suppliers to identify and deliver new design solutions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
? Integrates, understands, and anticipates the wants and needs of our Architects, Interior Designers, Customers, Distributors and Sales organization.
? Provides design input in support of both short and long term ceiling solution strategies.
? Develops and executes a format for providing twice yearly design inputs to Asia's business team for use during strategic and operating plan development.
? Collects input from regions on customer needs and competitor portfolios to establish priorities for new product designs that can be leveraged across regions.
? Develops and maintains a portfolio of design concepts for current and potential future application. Portfolio to be updated regularly with contents made available to all key stakeholders.
? Overseas and manages the design process life cycle from idea generation through prototyping taking into account regional codes & standards compliance, business rationalization, manufacturing capability alignment, and launch.
? Manages design project timelines and milestones for achieving on time, on budget launch performance.
? Supports marketing and sales initiatives including trade show design, sales tool design and consultation, collateral material consultation and drawings, travel to field locations to assist with new product introductions, and supporting market research efforts such as focus group with graphics and concept drawings.
? Networks with other global technical design team members to insure best practice, trends, and new solutions are shared.
? Attends and participates in trade shows, industry product shows, etc. to insure that Armstrong is participating at the leading edge of design and new product innovation.
? Continuously monitors and identifies ineffectiveness within the overall design process, proactively executing and communicating improvement changes as required for effective resolution.
? Benchmarks and interacts with external experts to identify new ideas, tools, and applications that will improve overall design process effectiveness.
? Interfaces effectively with ABP Asia's leadership team and global functional leaders to define and apply what "Good Looks Like" for all design process related activities.
? Monitors design development performance providing regular updates to key stakeholders.
? Routinely confers with key stakeholders to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
? Champions major product design efforts and mentors junior designers as required by business need.
? Supports specific global product design efforts as required by business need.
? Actively participate in selected leadership and functional staff meetings to keep key stakeholders aware of design activities, changes, issues, etc.
? Protects vital process trade secrets and design related knowledge.

Requirements:
? BS degree in Industrial or Mechanical Design.
? 5+ years of design experience in same or like business.
? Go-to-Market experience desired.
? The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Strong knowledge of design processes, tools, techniques, and workflow.
- The ability to build and manage effective relationships with outside vendors and suppliers.
- The ability to influence and sell design concepts.
- Strong organization skills with demonstrated ability to priortize and manage multiple activities.
- Strong leadership, facilitation and meeting management skills.
- Effective communication, writing, presentation, and data organization skills.
- Results oriented professional who can work across organizational lines and at multiple levels and who can achieve business objectives through personal initiative and energy.
- Proven experience to influence without direct authority.
- Self-driven, goal-oriented, strong interpersonal skills.
