Job description
The IT Operations Support Specialist is responsible for assisting in managing the customer-facing production site and internal system infrastructure for IBM-Coremetrics, the leading provider of web analytics solutions. This includes day-to-day tasks to support a data center hosted IT SaaS environment.
?Must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a complex and dynamic environment.
?Perform technical tasks including the installation, maintenance, and monitoring of servers, LAN infrastructure equipment, and related cabling and peripherals.
?Perform required administrative activities, including but not limited to procurement to monthly invoice review and approval.
?Create and manage documentation - ongoing inventory documentation, network diagrams, etc.
?Interface and coordinate with team members around the world, other departments and vendors for troubleshooting and to facilitate problem resolution.
?Must have excellent communication and analytical skills to effectively understand and resolve issues.
?Strong customer service mentality with a sense of urgency is a must.
?Ability to learn and gain product knowledge "on the fly" with minimal training is essential.
?Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and follow process flow are required.
?Perform additional duties as assigned by Network team lead and/or Infrastructure Management.
?Demonstrate knowledge of internetworking technology including: TCP/IP, Ethernet, and network troubleshooting.
?Work schedule may include evening and weekends for periodic maintenance.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES
These responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
?Day-to-day management of server hardware, operating system support and monitoring (e.g., installs, upgrades, troubleshooting).
?Monitor, diagnose and correct network and server related issues.
?Work all issues to closure, including configuration changes and hardware replacement/deployment.
?Base-level performance monitoring and tuning of network traffic.
?Hardware maintenance of rack-mounted servers, network equipment, and associated components such as cabling and cabinets.
?Light procurement management duties to include, but not limited to providing hardware quotes, configuration and timely asset reporting, management.
?Maintain documentation for all major areas of responsibility.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a Datacenter environment.
Experience with multiple operating systems and network hardware (Preferably Linux, Solaris and/or Cisco).
3 - 5 years experience as a Network Administrator.
Experience with scripting languages, such as KSH/Bash or Perl a plus
Technical Certifications preferred (CCNA, RHCT, etc.)
