Job Duties

· Independently assesses product compositions or chemical formulations to applicable regulations;
· Researches hazards and properties of components using computerized and text reference sources and international
chemical databases. From that, determine appropriate hazard assessment according to country/region, providing expertise
to enable the creation, maintenance and update of global SDSs;
· Determines appropriate hazard assessments and warning phrases to be applied to the 16 sections of the SDS;
· Prepares SDS documents utilizing a SDS authoring platform, such as ChemGES;
· Prepares product labels complimentary to SDS documents;
· Maintains and updates all records in support of SDS creation for internal recordkeeping and external reporting purposes;
· Remains current with all federal, state, and international regulations related to SDSs, labeling, and shipping of hazardous
materials and communicates changes as necessary;
· Complies with approved Laboratory Standard.

Requirements

· Bachelor degree in a field of Chemistry;
· 3 years’ chemical laboratory experience involving analytical chemical and physical analysis methods such as: melting
point/boiling point, specific gravity, viscosity, pH, flash point, and solubility analysis;
· Demonstrated knowledge of Chemical compounds, families, and/or pharmaceutical products and their properties;
· Ability to interpret complex regulations and an extensive variety of technical documentation;
· Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international regulations (i.e, GHS, OSHA, 49 CFR, 29 CFR, HazCom, etc.);
· Demonstrated knowledge of accepted international standards for preparation of (M)SDS, including CAS numbers;
· Experience with toxicological testing methods (lethal dose & lethal concentration analysis, Draize tests, Skin patch tests,
In Vivo and In Vitro Mutagenicity test, etc…) and ecological testing methods (aquatic toxicity tests, biodegradation and
bioaccumulation test, half-life rate methods, etc…) is a plus;
· Excellent analytical and English written and verbal communication skills.
