Summary:
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) will provide front line customer support for test contactors, printed circuit boards and assemblies in high volume semiconductor manufacturing test environments. FSEs engage directly with customers over the telephone and in person at their facilities to assess problem reports, make recommendations, facilitate short term repairs and liaise with HEI Sales and factory personnel to drive appropriate corrective action, when applicable.
This is a hands-on technical position where one must apply knowledge of semiconductor test fundamentals, semiconductor manufacturing envirnment and HEI products to field problems as reported by customers. In addition to the pure technical requirements of this position, successful candidates will also have strong communication skills, especially when dealing with customers but also when communicating with peers and remote support persons within HEI.
Field support persons are considered to be the 'voice of the customer' and often have the best understanding of how HEI products perform at a particular customer site. Strong performers who earn the respect of key customers have significant opportunities for career growth and advancement within HEI.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
? Respond promptly to issues as they are reported by customers, whether directly or through HEI Sales or Customer Service.
? Take direction from HEI Sales team members; coordinate customer visits with HEI Sales team.
? Verify, diagnose and debug problems at customer sites.
? Take appropriate measurements and compare to product specifications.
? Apply HEI and other related specifications to the situation at hand.
? Communicate findings to the customer and to HEI Sales and other support personnel . Follow HEI issue reporting and escalation procedures.
? Make recommendations as appropriate.
? Perform preventative maintenance, including minor cleaning and repairs, as appropriate.
? Train customers how to maintain HEI products using HEI recommended methods.
? Recommend HEI technical solutions to customers
? 25% travel requirement
? When onsite at HEI's manufacturing facility, FSE will be expected to test, debug and repair product being manufactured for sales to customers as part of the training program.
Qualification Requirements:

? Excellent troubleshooting skills.
? Can recognize and distinguish pure hardware problems from complex systems related issues, including interactions between semiconductor DUT, test program, handler and docking.
? Good communicator when dealing with customers. Follows through with communication between HEI Customer Service, Sales and factory support personnel.
Mechanical skills:
? Able to read an interpret technical drawings and other documentation.
? Basic understanding of the forces involved when DUT meets the test contactor
? Able to use basic measurement tools: caliper, depth gauge,
? Able to recognize signs of wear on contactor, probe and PCB surfaces.
? Basic soldering knowledge and skills.
? Electrical skills:
? Working knowledge of electronics at the printed circuit board, and device IO level.
? Able to interpret electrical schematics and semicondutor product specifications.
? Experience with circuit debug and diagnosis, component repair and component replacement.
? Basic understanding of transmission line, impedance and impedance matching principles.

Education and/or Experience:
Associates or Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or other technical degree with equivalent experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers. Ability to effectively present
information in one-on-one and small group situation to customers, and other employees of the organization.
Must be able to read and interpret English language technical documents whether original or reproduced, electronically
transmitted or otherwise delivered. Must be able to communicate technical details and ideas in the English language both verbally and written.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Software and Computer Skills:
Familiar with computers and Microsoft user interface, Microsfot office tools, Internet Explorer. Aware of computer security and able to take basic precautions to prevent unathorized access to compute resources.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in non-standardized situations.
