Job Title: CFO
Reports to: Director of Scarfiel
Location: Shenzhen
Job Purpose and Context
The jobholder has full accountability and responsibility for providing a full financial service for the business for ScarFiel in China, preparation of budgets and forecasts, management of local tax and importation requirements. The role leads a small team based in Shenzhen.
Financial reporting has to be of a high standard produced to specified local and Group deadlines to enable consolidated group reporting to occur on a timely basis.
Key Accountabilities
· Financial Control
Manage ScarFiel financial operations on a day to day basis
Develop and maintain tight financial control within ScarFiel finance
Manage change and improvement to the control environment and systems
Financial responsibility of management and central overheads

· Financial Management
Participate in commercial decision making, challenging and advising on assumptions and conclusions
Participate in buy decisions for merchandise, ensuring an absolute link between "Open to Buy" management and financial plans, so that inventory is well controlled
Preparation of new store board packs and other investment proposals and associated post investment reviews
· Financial Planning
Lead budgeting, planning & forecasting processes
Forward analysis, review and financial projections on ScarFiel business
Business, financial and scenario planning (3-5 years out)
Critical review of forecasts and budgets
Guide the President and team on financial risks and opportunities
· Financial Reporting and Governance
Compile & review historic/prospective financial results of ScarFiel on weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual cycles
Manage reporting, including direct communication with the ScarFiel Management Team
Maintenance and stewardship of local ScarFiel financial records
Ensure year end operates smoothly, managing the local audit relationship
· Cash and Treasury Management
Manage local cash and cash-flow planning/forecasting
Manage banking relationships on a day-to-day basis
Recommend and implement hedging strategy as agreed with board of ScarFiel
Understand tax & treasury issues to ensure compliance, effective planning and smart use of resources
· Compliance
Tax and other local regulatory returns

Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities
The candidate will have had a background in Asia garment retail business, ideally with an element of international exposure and sector exposure. This will have been in a growth environment that has included new store openings (capital expenditure and investment projects) and if possible an understanding of development of product under licence too.
It will be essential that the individual is a team player and can work as part of a strong entrepreneurial management team, stand their own, be an influencer and have an opinion.
