Joining GN Audio at our R&D in Xiamen, China, you will develop world-class Jabra solutions. By balancing scientific research with an end user focus, we develop advanced headsets and headphones to make life sound better for people around the world. You will become part of Mechanical Engineering and join 30 international colleagues located at our Danish HQ and Xiamen and Shenzhen in China.

Translate user requirements into mechanical designs 

As part of cross-functional development teams, you will collaborate with R&D partners, industrial designers, hardware engineers, project managers, etc. to mature new products. You will be responsible for the technical solutions and proof of concept during the early design stages, covering all aspects of the mechanical development. You will follow from initial ideation to final launch in most of the projects. 

More specifically, you will:

Lead the mechanical design work. Guide, support and supervise the engineers in the mechanical team and be the first interface to other project members in day to day work.

In order to succeed in this the Mechanical design lead should:

? Design new products in 3D in CAD with respect to design details, usability, materials, manufacturing requirements, etc. 

? Drive function planning in accordance with frame plan. And drive function deliverables accordingly.

? Align cross functionally on deliverables, requirements & specifications towards other/own function(s) with reference to plans.

? As functional representative proactively reacts on potential inability to meet project expectations/requirements and seek out opportunities for improvements. Functional mandate go / no go in XFR.

? Be responsible for reaching out to inside team on: technical challenges, resource constraints, cost, quality and schedule deviation and functional “go/no go” recommendation alignment prior to XFR. 

? Recommend resource requests through a dialog with the TPL/PM, create resource and OOP estimation for the function based on direction set by TPL/PM. (Prioritization set by LM)

? Design for value in mechanics, alignment with PCM/CM.

? Drive and take ownership of product quality in mechanics, test and validate prototypes and complete risk assessments and design reviews.

? Lead and drive the DFM discussion, review and sign-off.

? Ensure that we stay on top of technological developments in close collaboration with your colleagues in Mechanical Engineering 

? Coordinate, mentor, guide and motivate the mechanical team members in their design work.

As a person, you are open-minded, creative and ambitious, and you are good at communicating your ideas both verbally and visually. Also, you know how to be realistic in terms of customer needs and manufacturing realities, and you are not afraid to kill your darlings to come up with even better design ideas. You enjoy collaborating with people from different cultures and functions, sharing knowledge and establishing common ground. Moreover, we imagine that:

? You hold a Bachelor or Master in Mechanical Engineering.

? You have good knowledge and experience on mechanical Engineering. 

? You are a highly experienced 3D CAD user – we use PTC Creo

? You have more than 10 years’ experience in consumer electronic products’ mechanical development.

? You have strong communication skills both visually and verbally – and are able to present concept and design solutions in a clear and convincing manner. 

? You are team oriented – sharing information and cooperating with the team in Denmark and China, the cross-functional project teams and other stakeholders.

? You have excellent English language skills, in both speech and writing.

? You are cross-cultural, you are willing to travel abroad and be comfortable working with a European team – and understand what that involve.
