The Key Account Manager Refineries is a customer facing role that will develop and maintain value-added relationships with strategic customers by demonstrating the company's technical capabilities and services. She/he will be part of the Sales Team in China and responsible for driving direct sales activity with refinery accounts within China. In this newly established position, the candidate will be responsible for both account management and business development. The role has responsibilities to identify customer opportunities, develop solutions, quoting/ estimating, and closing the sale. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and technical departments within the Group to provide seamless technical support and high-quality system solutions.
The Key Account Manager – Refineries will have the following primary responsibilities:
Maintain and develop relationships with major refineries and contractor accounts within China
Develop business opportunities and secure new orders within those key accounts/customers
Identify key projects within the industries customer base and to secure the relevant inquiries from these projects
Promote technology with local refineries and equipment packagers
Prepare Sales Action Plans for responsible key accounts, monitor and report sales against the agreed sales targets and plans
Drive to agreed financial sales targets
Technical and commercial evaluation and acceptance/rejection of inquiries received either directly from the customer or via our internal support team
Management of specific projects and inquiries from the origin, through the quotation stage and on to order closure
Technical evaluation of inquiries, with a view to making recommendations on system selection and sizing to secure orders
Commercial evaluation of inquiries, in line with guidelines laid down by the management
Aid the technical support team in the timely preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals
Undertake post submission clarification and negotiations
Work with the engineering, legal, finance, and customer service teams to develop and win new business
Work with fellow members of the company's End-User commercial team on post-sale aftermarket efforts
Provide general customer feedback and competitive intelligence to assist tactical and strategic marketing initiatives
Generate long-term relationships with the goal of generating preferred supplier status
Conduct frequent client visits and follow up – at least 70% of the time – networking at all levels, recommending/specifying the company as part of Customer Licenses and processes (for existing and new units)
Requirements:
Background knowledge and experience of the refineries and contractor market and technical and commercial experience with relevant process technologies
Basic understanding of the major processes within the relevant refineries business sector, including fuels & chemicals, oil and gas production, processing, oil refining, chemical manufacturing, polymer production, etc.
Basic technical knowledge relating to product sizing, applications, mechanical design, and engineering
Experience with process design, engineering, and product design
Commercial awareness and experience
Knowledge of the refineries value stream and project phase workflow
Knowledge and experience relating to key account management, selling skills, and project management.
Computer skills – being familiar with general business and office software
Commercial knowledge and experience relating to contract negotiation and management
Market knowledge – potential customers and competitors
Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering preferred or equal technical experience within a processing plant/refinery.
5-10 years in a chemical processing plant or refinery (technical capacity preferred) or 2-5 years preferred selling into chemical processing plants or refineries
Knowledge of complex and applied engineering principles highly desirable
Knowledge of a broad range of fluid system components and applications highly desirable
Driving license
Ability to work independently and use their own initiative
Must be prepared to travel as required by the role across China
Very good knowledge of reading and writing English
