Job Purpose

To ensure product is costed and maintained, seeking the optimal balance between design, quality and engineered production for maximum company profits

Function / Department: Costing

Reports to: Costing Manager

Direct Reports: Costings

Location: Dongguan (Changping)

Key Responsibilities / Deliverables

· Support product development team on supplier pricing. To help ensure product is designed and developed into cost. Review and monitor costs, analyse and share to the business

· Identify the impact design changes have on cost and vice versa

· Analyse and compare costs breakdown and work closely with the design and Account managers to help create and maintain target costs

· Propose cost reduction options to design and product development teams

· Negotiate with suppliers on costs, set up-charges, MOQ’s and other internal business terms and conditions.

· Provide detailed and accurate open costing’s sheets.

· To be able to offer precise and accurate Design Cost, Product Cost and Production Cost

· Build and maintain reports/databases detailing all cost information (raw material, labour, design cost, and factory garment cost, garment true production cost.

Metrics / KPI’s

· Support product development team and account managers with negotiations end to end to achieve sustainable and competitive costs for Smiffys own brand and retail customers

Key Skills / Experience / Attributes

• A minimum of 5yrs previous experience within product costing at global supply chain level.

· An extensive understanding of toy, costume product and manufacturing.

· Strong analytical and systematic approach to data handling

· An in-depth knowledge of assessing fabrics and construction methods in terms of cost.

· Ability to problem solve, assess and pre-empt risks and find solutions.

· Excellent communication and organisational skills and proficient in English.

· Ability to work under pressure.

· Competent IT skills, driver’s License, ability to self-motivate.
