Overview of job
GroupM is the leading global media investment company and are a part of WPP. In fact, we are responsible for one in every three ads you see globally. We are currently looking for a senior data engineer to join us. In this role, you will be responsible for the data & tech products development, by improving existing products/components or building new products/components, to strengthening GroupM data-driven strategic planning and insights capabilities, better support GroupM business from data & tech prospective.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to: Head of Data and Technology, [m]PLATFORM

In this role, your goals will be:
In three months:

  • Understand the positioning and the key values of [m]PLATFORM data & tech products as an agency tool and how they work technically in a detailed manner
  • Understand the existing and ongoing products
  • Start enriching the product roadmap with insightful product ideas
  • Finish the ongoing data partnership negotiations
  • Find one new strategical data partner to support the business

In six months:

  • Update the product roadmap to fulfil the business needs
  • Find 3 new strategical data partners to support products
  • Drive the implementation of products together with engineering team
  • Establish a good working relationship with both internal and external teams across local, regional and global
  • Deliver at least 2 new products or solutions to the business

In 12 months:

  • Take a technical and product management leadership role
  • Manage the overall product roadmap
  • Continuously introduce products to [m]PLATFORM teams and GroupM/WPP agencies
  • Deliver at least 5 new products or solutions to the business


What your day job looks like at GroupM:

  • Communicate with multiple internal and external parties, like global product team, local key subject matter experts, agencies, external technique vendors, external data partners etc.
  • Local data & tech projects or components design, development, deployment and supporting
  • Support local key subject matter experts for external technique communication, analysing or even quick POC
  • Work with internal development resource from other business units for the products or components development, project management

Minimum qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in ad tech.
  • 2+ year of tech and data product management.
  • Analytical skills to make decisions from data and know the right questions to ask of it.
  • You are organized, detail-oriented, and express thoughts clearly in writing.
  • Good presentation and soft skills are necessary
  • Knowledge of the online media/advertising marketplace is a plus
  • Knowledge with market science or data science is a merit
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Ability to work independently is essential
