Responsibilities:
1. Investigate advanced illumination technologies (e.g. Lasers, LEDs, photodetectors, etc.) and optical systems (e.g. optical filters, DOE, lenses, etc.) with in-depth background knowledge and sophisticated optical simulations (e.g. Zemax, ray-tracing, etc).
2. Build optical models and designs by combining simulations of the near-field and far-field light propagation.
3. Analyze the trade-offs between design, process, optical performance, optical SNR,
and implementation feasibility.
4. Conduct optical test & measurements for the characterization of optical systems.
5. Predict visibility of optical artifacts, conduct customer-user study, and generate specifications.
6. Work with cross-functional team on 3D-image laser, driver, and sensor architectures, prototyping and system integration.

Qualifications:
1. Ph.D. or M.S. degree in Optics, Physics, or Material Science. (desired: 3-7 years experience).
2. Have solid background of free-space optics and camera module industry.
3. Proven track record of near-field and far-field optical modeling.
4. In-depth experience with optical device characterization and optimizations.
5. Hands-on experience in optical device design, development, prototyping and building optical instruments.
6. Expert knowledge in scientific programming, signal processing and data analysis (machine learning experience is a plus).
7. Excellent written & verbal communication skills with proactive attitude and team-working spirit.
8. Experience in product development preferred.
