Description:


Mission:



Management, coordination and transformation
of all R&D EE team activities in the site Shenzhen under his responsibility, in order to
develop new products, ranges of products in time and in budget- or
modifications maintaining of the existing ones
- within the scope of CL ASIA HUB electronic product department.



Drive strongly the mission of Shenzhen for
sourcing and co-development in CL.








Main Responsibilities:





People Management
& Development




  • Communicate and drive activities
    from business strategy to ensure improvement targets are met.

  • Set goals and objectives for the
    team and conduct interim and annual appraisals

  • Conduct Career Competency Reviews
    annually

  • Conduct regular team building
    activities

  • Foster a one Team mentality between
    the Adelaide and Shenzhen based team members, but also to other OD-sites
    in CL

  • Perform performance management
    process within function and disciplinary action as per Company procedure.

  • Mentoring and coaching of people,
    making sure they have access to relevant technical training

  • Ensure that the correct
    competencies required to fulfill the product roadmap are available, via
    training, outsourcing, or recruitment

  • Identify and develop talent for
    succession

  • Communication of direction,
    progress against plans, initiatives, changes and successes, and ensuring open
    and regular communication channels are available

  • Perform team briefings to employees

  • Build and maintain working
    relationships at all levels to ensure harmonious and productive
    collaboration






Customer &
Supplier Relationship Management




  • Maintain
    positive relationships with customers and visit customers whenever
    possible

  • Ensure
    sound understanding of the customer, including structure, politics,
    business processes and expectations

  • Facilitate
    a positive and professional customer relationship, building trust,
    confidence and respect

  • Initiate
    discussion with the customer to clarify needs and gain agreement re key
    design requirements

  • Identify
    gaps in customer specifications and seek resolution

  • Drive
    the strategical approach of our site in Shenzhen for Sourcing and
    Co-development

  • Communicate
    design concepts to supplier and encourage their input into the design
    process (within appropriate legal structures)

  • Provide
    Project Managers with up to date information regarding project progress /
    changes

  • Adhere
    to established processes re escalation of significant customer issues

  • Manage
    customer expectations re design feasibility / delivery






Technical Leadership



  • Coordination of
    all R&D-activities deployed in Shenzhen under his/her scope including the
    alignment of innovation activities

  • Fix together with
    Smart Space VP, the general targets and yearly budget of the R&D area of the
    site including OPEX/CAPEX.

  • Support and
    ensure the fulfillment of the main responsibilities and targets of the R&D people
    in Shenzhen

  • Fix together with
    Offer Management the strategy of Product Development, and establish a roadmap,
    integrating and combining the resources of the site and GTC.

  • Ensure
    appropriate levels of resource are directed towards product evolution work to
    deal with QVE imperatives

  • Draw upon
    engineering and general industry best practice and benchmarking

  • Identify
    opportunities to improve and refine work practices and systems

  • Question
    engineering assumptions

  • Driving
    transformation throughout the Offer Development function, with business focus,
    including:

    • Competence & openness & to the strong use of technology
      bricks, for speed to market & cost of development, from internal SE
      technology sources, & from outside group Co-Development partners.

    • Deploy and align in all sites OCP methods and procedures, tools
      and methodologies in the product development processes to ensure the following
      of the rules and best practices of the company

    • Successful monetization of new offers being developed.

    • Drive and Improve level of reliability of OD – Shenzhen: Short
      time to market as a key priority

      and Cost of development and of product as a key
      priority


      Business Partnering

  • Ensure open
    communication and maintain positive working relationships within the business
    and all functions in the LoB (OM, PMO, CS&Q), drive a strong
    Management-team-mentality of OD/OM/PM within Smart Space Shenzhen

  • Build trust,
    credibility within the business

  • Act as a trusted
    business partner in providing quality and timely design advice (e.g., design
    specifications / regulations)

  • Work
    cooperatively with Retail Wiring Devices team
