PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy and Capability

-Set priorities, budgets and plans to achieve overall unit strategy, goals and targets

-Assess, optimise and develop capability and resources

-Create and develop own initiatives for growth and innovation

-Collaborate with others to promote and build acceptance of these across the business by providing the necessary leadership and resources

Operational Excellence

-Set and manage standards and performance expectations for front line or work group leadership to ensure the highest standards of excellence in customer service, reliability and efficiency, and sustainability in safety and environmental performance.

Maximising Profitability and Return on Capital

-Maximise profitability by linking management goals and standards with the practical means of achievement in a high impact operation or area of the business which drives significant improvement in profitability.

Putting the Customer First

-Make sure front line or work group leadership have a customer first mindset and the operation is set up to put the customer first especially when linking with other operations or businesses to provide the service

General

-Ensure achievement of overall revenue and margin targets as set by management

-To ensure overall coverage of key market segments

-To ensure adoption of opportunity management standards, processes and tools

-To identify and develop new opportunities within business delivery capability

-Develop and present professional response to tenders and proposals within all specified guidelines

-To ensure compliance with all regulations and procedures (including those specified by the customer) for the development and submission of quotations and proposals.

-Develop value driven relationships with customers and across all levels of both organizations.

-Demonstrate a thorough understanding of customer requirements, keep customers informed of progress, provide problem resolution, and ensure overall satisfaction throughout the tender process

-To maintain an up to date knowledge of market and industry activity relevant to Toll’s strategic direction.

-To provide Management with feedback regarding current Business Development opportunities and markets

-Liaise with other Toll stakeholders to discuss business and continuous improvement opportunities

-Embrace training and development opportunities in order to continually improve industry, product and service knowledge.

SKILLS ESSENTIAL TO THE JOB

Technical

(Doing skills – job related knowledge, policies, procedures, techniques).

-Solid business development experience in contract logistics company or Forwarding.

-Proven success in business development and customer pipeline

-Ability to effectively handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously XXX

Business

(Understanding of business concepts, knowledge of the organisation, profitability).

-Solid understanding of transportation/logistics / supply chain management

Human Relations

(People skills in servicing, influencing, developing and leading others).
