As a firmware engineer on the 4DX Accessories team, you will help bring products to market that enable client’s core products to reach additional customer needs, make it easier to use those products longer, and enhance client’s core product experiences. 

 

You will contribute to the design of systems software and firmware for accessories. You will oversee development of SW for manufacturing our accessories and integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to provide real-time feedback on the health of our manufacturing process.

 

You will play a role in the review, specification, and oversight of external development (ODM/commissioned), interactions with supplier’s FAEs, and act as a technical liaison to the Accessories team’s internal core product engineering teams.

 

Responsibilities

• Understand the high-level software/firmware architecture of our VR headset and Portal products (Linux/Android) - and be able to design accessory systems that will interface with these products. 
• Drive design reviews for firmware. Review the development, production, and test plans of external partners. 
• Transform vendor reference designs into custom solutions.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience along with a BS/MS in CS/engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with schematics and board design and definition of FW requirements for board design and bring up.
• Prior shipping designs that utilize an RTOS or embedded Linux.
• A familiarity with Linux driver design and development.
• Mass Production experience (working with overseas manufacturing - both CM and ODM models)
• Experience with peripheral communication protocols such as MIPI, USB, I2C, UART, SPI and I2S.
• Experience with BLE or wireless technologies.
• Experience programming in C/C++ and Python, including initial system bring-up, debugging, and test code.
• Experience supporting FW needs for manufacturing and factory automation.
• Familiar with MES systems, Databases and data analysis at scale.
• A knowledge of designing low power systems. 
• Experience working independently and managing priorities.
• Experience communicating with software and hardware engineers to deliver complete systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• A passion for AR/VR and video conferencing technologies
• Experience with designing, validating, and shipping consumer electronic products.
• Experience with high speed signaling over DP, MIPI, HDMI, and USB SS
• Experience with USB PD protocols
• Experience with ARM/Qualcomm architectures
• Experience with vision systems
• Experience with audio
• Experience with system level design and working with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product Design, Research, etc.
• Experience with designing handheld or wearable electronics for high volume manufacturing
