Job Description

• Responsible for providing engineering expertise to Manufacturing and to facilitate the manufacturing and maintenance of existing product lines along with the introduction of new products (NPI). Assists in the design of, and oversees the fabrication of production and test equipment, assembly fixtures and assists in the evaluation of production process metrics and the collection of MTBF data. Represents the Manufacturing Department by conducting liaison with both Engineering and Technical Support to identify and correct problems and release products. Plans, organizes, manages and controls project-related tasks and support duties.
• Provides a point of contact from the Manufacturing Department to the Engineering Department for new product introduction, the maintenance of existing products, and the disposition of engineering change requests, engineering change orders, and deviations.
• Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of assigned projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Works with the Operations Manager to ensure proper support of production, including outside suppliers.
• Ensures adherence to contracts, system or product specifications, and quality standards.
• Assists with compliance testing, development testing, and manufacturing testing, as required.
• Assists with any production assembly/disassembly requirements to produce items as required to feedback to the Engineering Department for product improvement.
• Develops assembly instructions and final assembly drawings for new and existing products.
• Leads and participates in supplier and outsourced design vendor audits.

Requirements

• Minimum education: Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or Engineering Technology.
• Work history suggesting a strong background in electronics manufacturing and significant production experience.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in engineering positions supporting new product introduction to manufacturing or product line maintenance.
• Minimum five (2) years AutoCAD experience, including an understanding of ASME Y14.5M as it applies to PCB layout, wiring harness assembly documentation, and electronic system packaging. Electrical CAD layout (OrCAD; PADS) and 3D mechanical CAD experience a plus.
• Effectively communicates down, across and up through the company, as required, both internally and external to the team.
• Experience working with telecommunication products.
• Strong organizational skills, with an ability to work independently with little supervision and to work inclusively within a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Ability to research and review component specifications to determine functional characteristics and suitable alternate replacements.
• Recent manufacturing experience with the box build, system integration and printed circuit board assemblies, wiring and cable harnesses.
• Familiarity with machining, sheet metal, plastic injection-molding, and other fabrication methods with an excellent understanding of electronic assembly issues.
