Our M&A tax team has a diverse client base including large multi-national and domestic corporations, sizable international and mid-cap private equity funds. Our main focus is to advise clients on the tax aspects of their M&A activities in China and abroad.

Our people are allocated to specific client teams on a project by project basis, taking into account the level of experience required, development needs and availability. Project and client teams are typically cross-disciplined and advise on various types of taxes. We also advise on the tax implications of restructuring, provide tax due diligence and transaction related tax advisory services, including advising on holding / business structures and tax structuring for mergers and acquisitions. Our people are also heavily involved in advising clients on regional and global projects.

Responsibilities

- Advise clients on M&A transactions, including tax due diligence projects on Chinese or foreign targets, transaction structuring and deal implementation services

- Work closely with internal cross-functional teams and external clients on domestic / cross-border M&A transactions, international tax advisory engagements, tax structuring and ad hoc projects, flexibility in travelling arrangement

- Undertake business development activities and market tax services to clients and non-clients

- Keep abreast of updated technical developments and solutions, and confidently market these applications to clients 

- You will be in the in-charge manager role on project basis and responsible for managing a group of people

- Delegate work to members of multiple teams, ensuring follow up strategies are in place

Experience

- Bachelor or master degree holder. Professional qualification (e.g. accounting, tax or legal) is a must

- 5 – 8 years' relevant experience in a professional firm or Big 4 firm

- Experience in working on China M&A transactions or cross-border transactions 

- A proven history of managing and developing others, developing business and acting autonomously

- Proven client management skills and communication skills

- Proven ability to develop and manage people effectively through leadership, appropriate delegation, coaching and mentoring of staff

- Strong presentation skills with an excellent command of verbal and written English
