Position Summary & Responsibilities 

 Justification:

1. Current Precious metals GCM is retiring in 5 months - Jan'2021
2. Need a capable and dedicate PM GCM based in Asia to support majority of PM related demand and supply cross WDC globally;
3. Expedite Precious metals Should Cost Project to support PM Targets on-going negotiation and improvement;
4. Drive better efficiency & business results, Improve Operation team management's satisfaction & GCM team's overall efficiency and competence

Position Summary

1. Precious Metals Global Commodity Manager based in WDC Asia , development & implement Precious metals related strategy globally;
2. In charge of Precious metals price outlook based on market trend analysis and manage all PM related Strategic activities when needed;  interlock with all internal stake holders by regular/timely Commodity Strategy Review (executive level );
3. Work with Precious metals related key Commodity’s GCMs to develop & manage Precious metals related Source of supply, Connections, Communications and timely renewal Precious metals related Contracts to support strategy implementation;
4. Support Target GCM on VMI contract renewal with reasonable PM & VMI cost on annual basis; drive precious metals' Should Cost development for Target annual cost negotiation/bidding; keep working on PM inventory reduction and risk management related initiatives to achieve inventory and cash flow related objectives;
5. Drive better Operation efficiency & business results, Improve management team's satisfaction & GCM team's overall competence

Responsibilities

1.  A capable and dedicate Precious Metals  Global Commodity Manager in WDC Asian site , in charge of WDC Precious metals related strategy and implementation globally:  Area of support includes:  Media (Pt, Ru, Re) & Substrate Operation (Aluminum, Nickels) ~80% in Asia (Shenzhen & Malaysia) ; WD Wafer Operation in US (Ir & Rh), WD Head (Thai. & Phi.) and SSD Operation related supply of Gold bonding wire;

2. Communicate/Develop/Implement Precious Metals Commodity Strategy with reasonable price outlook based on market trend analysis including PM leasing, hedging, forward buy and PM Purchase push out activities when needed; align with WDC precious metals related commodity Global Strategy (Target/Nickle Chemistry/Substrate/Gold wire);  interlock with all internal stake holders by regular/timely information sharing and effective communication (commodity review at executive level) ;

3. Develop Precious metals related Source of supply, Connections, Communications and put all Precious metals initiatives related Contracts in place with Operation related key stakeholders, Corporate finance and Legal approval to ensure effective execution;

4. Perform Market/Industry Analysis and implement Risk Management through alignment with above mentioned commodity's GCMs, Operation related key stakeholders and Suppliers; Study and share Precious metals market analysis and recommendation for Target & Precious metals VMI contract renewal with reasonable/competitive PM terms and VMI rate on annual basis;

5. Provide WDC Corporate and Regional finance QTQ Precious metals & critical base metals price forecast update for Finance timely spending forecast update with professional analysis and recommendation when necessary;

6. To support Target GCM to drive Precious metals' Should Cost development ( related with Target's PM loss and refining terms), ensure accurate and complete Total PM Target Should cost for annual bidding & on-going cost negotiation and management;  Keep working on PM inventory reduction and risk management related initiatives;

7. Support global Precious metals scrap materials' refining bidding projects & contracts' management with Target GCM team,  to be independent to lead PM Refining CM on this back-end process as owner after 1 year on-job learning and project management;

  

Qualification & Skills

Education

1. Bachelor/Master degree in business, international trading, materials, finance;

Experience

1. At least 8~10 year experiences in Global Commodity Management and Strategy Development;
2. Strong data & Market analysis capability & market trend understanding;
3. Experience in Target Manufacturing, Precious metals refining or Commodity Should Cost is plus ；

General Skills Description

1. Strong negotiation and communication skills in both oral and written English and Mandarin;
2. Strong problem resolving, project management & presentation skill for executive level of communication;  
3. Ability to work under a high working pressure, time constraints and in a multi-task environment;
4. High integrity and good team work.;                                                                                              
5. English level is CET-6 or higher.   *Japanese language skill is a plus; * TABLEAU User is a plus
