About The Role

Courant is looking for a Project Manager (Engineering background is a MUST) to coordinate technical development of our wireless products with factory partners in Asia. In this role you will be tasked with liaising communications between the Courant leadership team in NY, factory management and engineers, and our operations teams based in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. You will lead the overseas engineering efforts for existing and future product lines with the goal of bringing technologically advanced structurally sound, and globally compliant products to international markets. Our ideal candidate will have prior experience at a globally distributed consumer electronics brand, at a CE manufacturing consultancy for brands, at a major CE manufacturer in China, or some combination of the three.

This is a unique opportunity to join a company shortly after launch with the support of an unprecedented business platform. This position is based in Shenzhen and will report into both Courant Co-Founders.

Responsibilities

· Coordinate production requirements with our Global Planning team to ensure on-time delivery.

· Write manuals, or work with technical writers to ensure that manuals are as effective as possible.

• Define customer regulatory compliance quality standards and testing necessary to bring products to market.
• Acts as escalation point for product issues that require resolution, quality assessment, or risk mitigation.

· Work with industrial designers, engineers, toolmakers, and other cross-functional teams to ensure newly developed products are manufactured to the highest quality and deadlines are met.

· Report program status to Director of Product Development and US based Business Unit lead

· Bridge communication between business team and execution team

· Serve as a key member in the New Product Development team to anticipate and proactively manage product quality, durability and reliability issues and improvement opportunities

· Develop plans for preventing and addressing quality, durability and reliability issues and drive key lessons learned into the NPI process

· In-depth knowledge of all aspects of electrical design including analog/digital circuit design, schematic capture, and debugging

· Knowledge of low-power, battery operated and wireless portable devices

· Circuit design experience with emphasis on mixed signal and embedded system design (including ARM-based controllers, power management, firmware/device drivers, electrical signal characterization, and interfacing environmental sensors)

• Proficiency in - MATLAB, SPICE or other simulation / modeling tools, Python or other scripting languages.
• Analyze engineering and production data sets in order to reconcile with simulations of the models
• Collaborating with senior level engineers; schematic and bill-of-material (BOM) creation.
• Printed circuit board (PCB) design.
• Drive component selection for new product and provide design documentation in both local and English languages / versions
• Lab work involving testing circuit boards including initial bring-up and debug
• Working closely with other team members such as mechanical, RF, antenna, firmware, and test engineers.
• Assisting in the integration and test of the final system.

Our Ideal Candidate

• Background in electrical engineering in consumer product applications, including wireless charging and battery technologies (proficiency in industrial design / 3D modeling a +)
• Ability to translate UX goals into viable, innovative technical solutions and applications
• Cultural understanding of
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin required. Cantonese a plus.
• Deep understanding the manufacturing landscape in consumer electronics in China
• Production and performance testing metrics
• Ability to clearly translate factory test reporting and create original test reporting of prototype and final product function
• Understanding of global testing requirements in the consumer electronic space including RF Design, material certifications, local safety tests (ex: PSE, CCC, IC, CE, etc.)
• Interest and passion for the consumer product market
