Purpose of Job: Lead and execute major R&D programs. Develop skills and tools for fundamental understanding and improvement of related catalysts and catalytic processes.

Job Profile:

Essential Function 1:Execution of R&D activities

1.Execute R&D projects in compliance with the R&D guideline and idea to market process

2.Drive projects forward with determination, creativity, endurance, and team spirit to meet milestones and objectives

3.Support development of cost and resource efficient production technology for new catalysts

Essential Function 2:Equipment Management

1.Design, improve, and maintain the responsible laboratory and equipment and ensure ESHA compliance.

2.Utilize resources in the most effective way

3.Propose capex to the R&D Head and implement capex plan as approved.

Essential Function 3:Knowledge Management

1.Provide scientific information required for the proper execution of projects

2.Create IP and carry out IP studies (knowledge, FTO, patentability, objection against 3rd party IP …)

3.Propose R&D ideas and maintain internal and external connections

4.Advance the knowledge in the field of competence. Make use of literature and internal/external contacts

5.Share know-how proactively to support Clariant's capabilities for problem solving

Essential Function 4:Support the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of the R&D Center

1.Provide scientific information and approach to solve production, technical service, and sales problems.

2.Support the establishment of the R&D Center.

3.Support technology transfer from lab to lab and from lab to plant.

Job Requirement:

Education: PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with an outstanding track record in catalyst R&D.

Business experience: At least 5 years catalysis R&D experience. Preferred 2 or more years industrial experience. International experience is a plus.

Additional   Qualifications:  Fluent in English conversation and excellent in English   writing.
