Responsibilities

-Manage our supply base partners in the design and development of world-class tooling and manufacturing processes for new development projects with demanding geometric and cosmetic requirements.

-Manage the tool design and fabrication schedule, along with the process development and tooling qualification process with our supply base partners.

-Collaborate with the internal product development team on material selection, part design and manufacturing feasibility, along with the cosmetic requirements of new parts and tool designs.

-Implement industry best practices in tool design, fabrication and qualification across a range of material and process requirements including plastic molding, metal part fabrication and secondary decorative and finishing processes.

-Participate in the product development process by completing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis on client specifications & influence client specifications through design recommendations.

-Evaluate tooling requirements for new projects, review supplier capabilities, and influence supplier selection.

-Implement continuous process improvement measures from initial product design through to production ramp of new development projects.

-Take a leading role in the design, manufacture and supply of dimensional and functional, jigs and fixtures for tooling validation.

-Collaborate with the internal product development team to ensure all engineering changes are captured and addressed with our supply chain partners.

-Collaborate with our supply chain partners on maintaining correct controls on the process parameters and lead the development of suitable tooling preventative maintenance plans and schedules.

Qualifications

1. Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

2. Being able to communicate in English and Chinese is essential.

3. No previous experience required.

4. Basic understanding of injection molding equipment, parameters, processes and controls, including two shot and insert molding.

5. Basic understanding in injection mold tool design for high volume consumer electronics with challenging tolerance and cosmetic requirements.

6. Basic understanding of plastics materials and secondary process manufacturing knowledge such as machining, coatings and sub-assembly.

7. An advantage if you are proficient in 3D CAD packages such as Pro E or Solidworks, and mold flow analysis software packages.

8. Familiar with industry leading test and inspection equipment
