The Lead Merchant, reporting to the Vice President of Bombay Outdoor Living, will be responsible for collaborating with our Product Development, Marketing, and Asia offices in a highly visible, strategic role with Arden supporting the Bombay brand in a high performance, fast paced work environment. Strong product development abilities, a continuous improvement mindset, effective communication and relationship building skills are a must for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:
? Aggressively identify new suppliers and materials while successfully collaborating with our existing suppliers, manufacturing plants, marketing and product development teams, and other outside partners to accomplish desired results and further Arden's business objectives.
? Actively seek out new sourcing options and vendors in anticipation of future product roll outs. Strong technical background in non-woven fabrics and furniture for the outdoor category extremely helpful.
? Lead purchasing cost reduction strategies and supplier negotiations.
? Monitor the on-going purchase order placement, order tracking, and supplier follow-up to proactively spot potential/future needs and potential issues.
? Lead supplier relationship development, KPI establishment and management, and on-going supply base performance improvement.
? Supply base risk mitigation, supplier issue resolution and on-going interactions with the supply network.
? Lead purchasing elements of new product and / or new supplier launch by sourcing materials, identifying suppliers, and working to ensure consistency of the overall Bombay vision with all overseas agents.
? Seeks out new and innovative products/trends/ideas that provide smart solutions to the end consumer, while providing a point of differentiation in the marketplace for Arden and our retailer partners.
? Expert and product champion in the outdoor/garden category through industry and marketplace information, competitive analysis, and consumer research.
? Understanding of steps required for execution of operational sequencing of products from concept to customer, meeting all "Go-To-Market" milestones while meeting profitability, customer service, speed-to-market, and quality and compliance requirements.
? Works in collaboration with our overseas offices regarding production strategies. Manages the development calendar deadlines for critical approvals.
? Collaborate with the Vice President of Bombay Outdoor Living to develop and establish a 3 year merchandising strategy focusing on product development and innovation to deliver expected sales and margin results.

Professional Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree in a related discipline required.
? Minimum 5-10 years experience in retail merchandising, overseas experience required.
? Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both internally and externally, preferably in Mandarin Chinese.
? Ability to function and lead in a collaborative long distance team environment; self-directed, motivated and highly flexible.
? Proven ability to thrive in entrepreneurial environment.
? Creative and analytic thinker who can easily manage multiple tasks and prioritize work within tight, concurrent deadlines.
? Must be willing reside in Asia and travel as required.
? Candidates must be willing to reside in China.
? Travel to and from the US is also required 5% - 15%.
