Purpose:  

Drive the Material development, Costing process and material planning & production delivery for assigned products/factory (s), with an emphasis on quality product engineering and timely completion of all tasks, including sampling and buy ready in accordance with the operating calendars.

 

Work with suppliers on the innovation, sustainability and build up the platform to share and align business needs and supplier capabilities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with suppliers on the innovation, sustainability and build up the platform to share the information to the Creation Centres.

   

• Collaborate closely with the various stakeholders - Creation Centres, LO, T1, T2, and various other parties on material development.

• Support/drive the development process ensuring workable fabrics and trims are created which address desired function, cosmetics, cost, market material and manufacturability, including checking for quality, and adherence to standards providing options and recommendations to make improvements in the sample process.

• Discuss prices with T2s throughout the development process and/or Costing meeting to work towards a cost optimized product.  Ensure all cost related information is complete, accurate and on time.

• Ensure that all sample / bulk orders are produced accurately and shipped on time.

• Drive effective problem solving and continuous improvement through coaching and training T2 suppliers.

• Support and work with tier 2s to understand KPI definitions, review these KPIs regularly to validate data and compile KPI summary report to management.

• Communicate order status, work in progress, delays and deliveries to associated tier 1, tier 2, apparel Los, and related department that have direct impact  on business KPIs.

• Ensure accurate and timely updates of the data management systems where applicable.

• Support to roll out the global material initiatives to T2 i.e. ABC, duty saving, sustainable and monitor regional T1 and T2 adhere the material allocation strategy with the best business interests.

   

• Support effective problem solving and continuous improvement through couching and

  training T2 suppliers.

   

• Work collaboratively and servicing other Los effectively relating to material deliveries (bulk and samples).  As nomination material is not only supporting tier 1s within the LO where the material team belongs to, they are also delivered to other LO’s tier 1.

  Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of  material  construction and manufacturing

• Advanced knowledge of costing and strong negotiating and influencing skills

• Strong communication skills

• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

• Basic MS Office skills and strong ability to work with Product Data Management Systems

   

   

  Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

• College Diploma

• At least 3-5 years of related work experience in the apparel industry in a technical capacity.
