Purpose:  

• Ensures that latest tooling technology is used to develop or commercialize adidas products according to the highest quality and industrial standards.

  

Key Responsibilities:

• Assists the Development/Commercialization Manager and the Technical Services Manager in ensuring that the tooling used in development and commercialization complies with the stated design and development specifications from headquarters.

• Assists the Development /Commercialization Manager and the Technical Services Manager in ensuring that tooling:

1. incorporates latest technological developments

2. adheres to specific development / commercialization timelines

3. meets with adidas quality standards and cost efficiency objectives

• Works with mold shops and manufacturers in the continuous upgrade of technical applications and processes and implements them into the tooling facilities. 

• Is aware of adidas brand mission and customer focus; has some knowledge of adidas history and understands the technical direction of the product range.

  Operations:

• Establishes an efficient tracking system on tooling and tooling related processes with factory and moldshops; ensures that tooling development complies with the established development and commercialization timelines. 

• Evaluates tech packages, technical drawings etc to check that they have been correctly processed and include all necessary information.  Evaluates gauges, molds etc to ensure that they meet specifications and adidas quality standards.

• Establishes and manages a central filing system for all technical drawings and relevant graded patterns.

• Updates the mold manual; processes incoming information on latest industrial standards; ensures that these standards are evaluated and, if appropriate, adopted into working processes. 

• Establishes standards for:

1. mold technology

2. the grading system

3. quality check and correct tooling execution

4. process-oriented procedures

5. CAD/CAM and software application   

• Initiates and participates in mold/ engineering tear-down meetings and establishes a reporting system for the findings.

• Must be familiar with adidas policies regarding:

1. tooling standards

2. tooling costs

3. materials and components

4. lab test standards

• Ensures health and safety requirements are met and SOE rules are implemented.

      Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

• Must hold a degree in a bachelor degree.

• Three years working experience in a technical engineering/mold making capacity.

• Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM processes and applications, handling related software.

• Knowledge on shoemaking processes and pattern engineering.

• Fluent in English, BULATS level 3 or equivalent.

   

  Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:

• Diploma or degree from educational entity preferably in related fields

• Minimum 3 years experience in Sporting Goods Industry preferably Footwear
