Position Title: Senior Staff Geophysicist

Location: Shekou Office, China

Reports To: Sr. Manager, Exploration, China

Duration: Permanent Staff position

Start date: ASAP

Summary

This position represents a key technical position within the North Asia Exploration Team. Primary responsibilities include the supervising various geophysical activities within company’s existing exploration portfolios, together with the identification & evaluation of new venture exploration opportunities in China Mainland region. Provide the main geophysical support for a small team of geologists & reservoir engineers working in China & will need to liaise with the Canada office on geophysical matters. This will include: play & prospect generation, geophysical mapping, providing recommendations for drilling locations, evaluation of drilling results, together with assessments of original in-place hydrocarbons and the provision of geophysical support & reporting as required.

Requirement

• Responsible for Block seismic interpretation and mapping, well location recommendations, well prognosis and related well evaluation program
• Complete well drilling and post-drill geophysical evaluation
• Carry out a detailed seismic interpretation and mapping, and make recommendations for development well and appraisal locations
• Provide geophysical supports for development and communicate with CNOOC
• Participate in new venture opportunities evaluation, make quick structure interpretation and mapping for primary targets and provide professional recommendations
• Supervise or carry out advanced interpretation processes on seismic data such as seismic attribute analysis, seismic inversion and favorable reservoir prediction etc.
• Evaluate seismic quality and make recommendations for seismic acquisition, processing/re-processing etc. geophysical activities
• Make technical exchanges with Canada office for projects/new ventures evaluation results and work with drilling and completions group for well-planning
