Acoustic Engineer
Job description:
· The candidate will serve both as the acoustic engineer and design verification engineer role for development of headset and portable speaker product.
· Translate product requirements into acoustic design options
· Select, specify, and evaluate transducers and microphone as necessary
· Evaluate design options through comprehensive computer modeling and extensive measurements and critical listening on physical prototypes.
· Closely co-operate with mechanical, systems, and DSP engineers to select the best design for the product.
· Support manufacturing startup and continuous engineering
· Proven capability to architecting test platform for verification of audio performance
· Participate in design reviews related to design and performance matrix. Communicating product performance information to a broader cross-functional development team.
· Candidate should be fluent in spoken and written English and possess good communication skills.
· Proven ability to work well with worldwide teams and across technical, business and marketing groups is required.
Requirements:
· A BS or MS (preferred) degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related degree with relevant experience
· Deep understanding of loudspeaker design for headset and portable speaker product
· Deep understanding of microphone enclosure design for headset and speakerphone product
· Experience tuning signal processing to optimize system audio performance
· Proven track record of designing high quality audio products
· Methodical and scientific approach to any technical problem
· Fluent in at least one acoustic computer modeling tool (e.g. Pspice, FEA, WinISD, etc.)
· Fluent in at least one computer based acoustic measurement system (Audio Precision, MLSSA, Smaart, etc.)
· Excellent verbal & written communication skills, comfortable with reading and writing detailed technical specifications
· Passion for sound quality
· Critical listening skills, experience with formal listening experiments
· Willingness to innovate and stretch the envelope of the current state of the art
Preferred (But Not Required) Skills:
· Experience in transducer design
· MATLAB
· Knowledge of audio Digital Signal Processing
· Knowledge of electronic amplifier design, behavior and constraints.
· 5+ years of direct product development experience
· Experience with contract manufacturing.
