Overview

Western Digital’s Social media team is looking for a Manager to help lead strategy & execution for its brands in China based in Shanghai. The key deliverable is to ensure that strategies and plans are created, communicated, approved by the cross-functional team, and well deployed.

The successful incumbent will have a proven track record of social media expertise within the China region, strong follower & engagement growth and a demonstrated ability to interact with external partners and senior management across functions. The position will report into the marketing director, China.

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Be a passionate thought leader for Western Digital in China for social media and KOL/influencer marketing. Have a vision and the functional expertise and tenacity to see it through.

• Referencing Western Digital’s global and China communications strategies, tailor a clear and concise strategy for China with supporting tactics that are executable and within budget.

• Educate internal stakeholders and external partners and gain buy-in on the plan.

• Leverage social channels and digital media to drive awareness and consideration for key products while building trust in the relevant brands.

• Provide thought leadership, identify trends and implement best practices for social and influencer marketing, including influencer, analytics, paid social media marketing and organic content amplification.

• Develop and optimize awareness, engagement and KOL campaigns.

• Analyze, adjust and report key metrics on an ongoing basis. Demonstrate an ROI focus and an aptitude for how to optimize the social ecosystem across paid, earned, shared and owned media.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university and 6-8 years’ experience in advertising, communications or marketing; 3-5 years managing social media programs in China

• Keen understanding and appreciation of the social landscape in China with demonstrated track record of digital and social media performance in China

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

• Aptitude to develop and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

• Exceptional leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle several assignments simultaneously

• Ability to distinguish and behave with a good sense of decorum; acting as a brand ambassador is absolutely required
