Title: Mechanical Program Process Manager

Location: Shenzhen, China

Job Description

Amazon China Shenzhen Branch is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile, portable, hand-held consumer electronics products, like the Kindle. The Mechanical Program Process Manager (MPPM) will work closely with teams located in both the US and China throughout the design cycle. As the MPPM, you will be responsible for driving cross functional communication within region, and will be the focal point of contact in China. Close communication and teamwork with the US based MPM will be required to ensure teams in the US and China are progressing according to schedule.

You will also be responsible for closely monitoring and driving China side activities including tooling release, process qualification, and material preparation for builds. Working closely with the China based Material and Process team, you will be responsible for driving vendors to ensure that schedules remain on track and issues are resolved in a timely manner. In addition, you will work closely with the Quality and Operations teams to ensure that cross functional communication is taking place, and that agreed upon milestones and quality requirements are met.

The Role:
Act as focal point for all China side Mechanical activities
Drive risk mitigations with China based teams
Maintain close communication with the US MPM to ensure issue resolution and schedule changes are clearly communicated throughout the organization
Work closely with Material and Process teams as well as suppliers to keep tooling and material schedules on track
Lead critical issue resolution throughout project cycle
Drive and track enclosure material readiness for engineering builds
Hold meetings to keep China cross functional teams organized and focused throughout design cycle
Travel domestically and internationally to supplier sites as needed to keep project on schedule
Work on multiple projects simultaneously

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or related field
7+ years of experience in the consumer electronics industry
Demonstrated experience managing complex project schedules with tight deadlines
Experience in the following:
Project Scheduling (MS Project or like)
BOM and Material Control Systems
Bug Tracking Databases
Experience working onsite with manufacturers and suppliers
Proven strong organizational and problem solving skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills required for effective presentations
Demonstrate critical thinking capability

Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or advanced technical degree
Experience creating and tracking tooling and manufacturing schedules
Enthusiasm for getting "hands on" in collaborative team environments
Demonstrated ability to start projects and drive to completion.
Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of all phases of product development lifecycle
Fluent in Chinese and English
