Title: Materials & Process Manager

Location: Shenzhen, China

The Amazon Product Engineering team is responsible for developing tooling, fixtures, processes and materials to support development of new product designs and packaging solutions. As Materials & Process Manager you will develop and oversee tooling, materials and process engineers reporting across multiple programs and working across a diverse supply base. Your team will work directly with Product Design Engineering, and collaborate with Operations Supply Base Management to deliver a scalable, transferable model to produce our designs at high volume, high consistency and best cost. We are looking for an experienced engineering manager to come onboard; to lead and grow this group into a world- class organization.

Key functions for this group are as follows:
- Collaborate with enclosure design teams to qualify materials and designs
- Leverage supply base to develop optimal tooling designs & fabrication processes
- Drive enclosure & packaging DFMEA, execution and validation
- Own materials & process issue resolution during development
- Collaborate with Operations SBM & factory teams to qualify tooling and fixtures

Requirement:
- Must be willing to live in Shenzhen, China.
- Will have a background in mechanical product development (design, tooling and process development), with considerable experience in high volume consumer electronics manufacturing and will have spent time at manufacturing sites in Asia.
- The candidate will have worked on portable, battery powered (ideally wireless devices), such as MP3 players or cell- phones.
- He/ She will also be an experienced manager, having directly managed teams of at least 3 engineers, as well as lead cross- functional teams.
- The candidate should demonstrate program management skills and understand the product development cycle.
- This person will excel at data analysis, debug & problem solving; will be a great manager and leader to the team, will interface and communicate well with external parties including ODM partners and internal groups.

Qualifications:
- At least 10 years experience as a Mechanical Design, Tooling or Manufacturing Engineer.
- A proven manager: directly managed teams of at least 7 engineers of varied disciplines.
- Experience working on portable, battery powered, ideally wireless devices, such as MP3 players or cell- phones in the high volume consumer electronics industry.
- Proven success working in Asian Manufacturing Supply Base.
- Data analysis and debug skills; familiarity with Six- Sigma, CpK, DOE and/or FMEA methods.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- This position will require international travel.
- Able to travel to US and across Asia frequently.
