Packaging Engineer
Zenith Products Corporation is recruiting aPackaging Engineerfor our office in China. Zenith is a well-established, medium-sized company located in New Castle, Delaware in the United States. Zenith manufactures consumer products sold in most major US retail stores in categories including shower curtain rods, liners and rings, mirrored medicine cabinets, shower caddies, as well as wood, wire, and plastic shelving and storage cabinets.
The role of the Packaging Engineer is to provide expertise and support toour Manufacturing partner facilities in China as well as to our own internal projects. This individual needs to have a thorough understanding packaging industry practices and how to best apply them to current manufacturing equipment and processes. This will require working directly with our vendors as well as their packaging suppliers. The responsibilities include developing appropriate and innovative packaging on our new product offerings as well as continuously improve the packaging on our current products. In order to achieve these goals this person will be working directly with our Global Sourcing and Marketing teams and may also have direct involvement with our customers. This position will require frequent visits for factories to work on site with our vendors.This position reports to the Engineering Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of relevant packaging experience with the ability to work on lean manufacturing projects
Engineering degree in related field
Extensive knowledge of packaging materials and methods including corrugate, blister packs and internal packaging
2D computer skills (AutoCAD) and Engineering Control Drawing experience
Solid Works 3-D Modeling preferred
In depthknowledge of manufacturing techniques, materials, and processes
Travel to vendor locations to work on projects
Good project management and documentation skills
Preferred Experience:
Ready to Assemble (RTA) furniture for mass retail
Wire and metal tubular products and processes
Plastic materials and processes
Wood materials and construction
Products for mass retail
Additional Desired Experience and Abilities:
Ability to multi-task
Thrive in fast-paced environment
Highly motivated
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Exceptional analytical skills
Experience Working with Major US Retailers:
Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond, Kmart, Target, JC Penney, and Others
