Title: Reliability Program Manager, Amazon Kindle

Location: Shanghai, China


Amazon develops innovative consumer-centric product solutions. As Hardware Reliability Program Manager you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design and bring to market innovative consumer products. You will work closely with an internal inter-disciplinary team, and outside partners to drive key aspects of product definition, execution and test. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

The Role:

The hardware Reliability Program Manager will lead the engineering and operations teams through the device execution phase process. Accountable for managing new device programs through the company's phase review process, ensuring that phase entry and exit criteria are established and met. The candidate is responsible for creating the project plan, including the schedule and risk management plan. You will work with the Product Manager to derive the product requirements and obtain executive approval. The EPM will drive and motivate the cross-functional team to deliver the device as per the agreed-to requirements; directly manage the core hardware (Electrical Engineering) team and cross functionally manage the PM, SW, PD, ID and Operations teams, working alongside the PD Process Manager, software PM and operations PM. The Reliability Program Manager will be responsible for the coordination and planning of all engineering builds at the factory and drive the configuration management deliverables to ensure the timely release of all device components and assemblies to production.

Requirements:

? Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science or Physics. Master's Degree Preferred.
? 5 years' experience as an engineering lead or engineering project manager.
? Experience as an Engineering manager or EPM with expertise in product development processes and a proven track record of delivering high volume mobile consumer electronic devices, including mobile phones, MP3 players and laptops products to market.
? Experience dealing with high volume manufacturing sites in Asia and, ideally, worked with several different ODM partners.
? Experience with cross-functionally managing a diverse group of engineering, operations and product management professionals; proficient at creating and tracking complex development schedules, managing issues and tracking bugs.
? Background in consumer electronics (battery, wireless devices preferred - e.g. cellphone).
? Solid understanding of both software and hardware development lifecycles.
? Leadership skills.
? Hands on experience at manufacturing sites.
? Strong communication and leadership skills required.
? Must be able to synthesize and present data to upper management - providing trade-offs and recommendations.

This position will require international travel.
