Job Title: Production/Design Engineer (Tyseley)

Working Location: Nanan Xiamen, Fujian

Job Description

· Produce 3D models 2D component drawings and Product assembly drawings utilising Pro-E, to BS308 standard.

· Reporting directly to the Senior Group Production Engineer.

· Maintain all drawings too the correct issue levels, and create relevant supportive paperwork.

· Undertake redesign and value engineering projects while maintaining product performance and quality.

· Investigate manufacturing issues, commission appropriate testing and propose solutions with justification.

· Work with design engineers to resolve detail and take new concepts into manufacture.

· Prototype designs as appropriate.

· Evaluate and test prototypes to ensure that they meet the required brief and specification.

· Resolve component and assembly detail, and specify to enable manufacturing.

· Regularly create and maintain bills of materials and routings using the company's MRP system (IFS).

· Create technical literature using MS Word and other software utilising own and colleagues' drawings.

· Effectively communicate with global suppliers to facilitate manufacturing and resolve issues.

· Project and data management as required.

· Test products ensuring they meet required Water Regulations and Flow rates. (Training can be provided)

· Prepare paperwork and samples for submission for WRAS, TMV2 and TMV3. (Training can be provided)

· Maintain awareness and interest in the bathroom and relevant manufacturing industries.

· Occasionally undertake tasks outside the usual remit of the position, which reflect the needs of the business.

· Hours of work: 8am 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8am 1pm Friday.



Person Specification

The successful candidate to possess the following skills and experience:-

· Degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or proven work experience in a similar role.

· At least 5 year's post graduate experience with a demonstrable record of thorough production engineering work.

· Good experience of modern manufacturing techniques in the non-ferrous industry with current production engineering experience preferred.

· Working knowledge of at least one or more of the following manufacturing disciplines Sand Casting, Stamping, Zinc Die-casting, Plastic Injection molding.

· Competent standard in Pro/Engineer is essential for this role.

· Strong team player.

· Experience in using Pro/intralink would be useful. A competent standard in MS Office tools is desirable.

· Good use of analytical skills in order to analyse numerical and verbal data.

· Energetic, self-starter and conscientious.

· Manages time effectively and takes initiative working under own direction at times.

· Able to keep to schedules and work with established systems and procedures.

· Ability to work productively in a high-pressure environment, accepting demanding goals with enthusiasm.

· Ability to make prompt, clear decisions, taking responsibility for projects and actions.

· Able to probe for further information in order to fully understand a problem.

· Comfortable presenting ideas and solutions, expressing opinions clearly.

· Good interpersonal skills in order to establish good relationships with customers, suppliers and staff.

· Ability to produce new ideas and a range of solutions to problems.
