Position: Merchandiser(NPI Specialist)

Report To: Manager
Location: Shenzhen

Job Responsibilities:

1. Manage NPI(New Production Introduction) business processing for one business line

2. Manage and coordinate the whole process of new product development with support from other functional teams.

3. Contacts supplier at start of project after selection, to outline the customer’s requirements, silver and gold seal stages and other critical dates of the project.

4. Orders and chases Silver seal samples (if required). Contact supplier to check progress in advance and keep head office informed if the supplier is likely to be late meeting the agreed date.

5. Checks suppliers own required deadlines for receipt of artwork, labels and IMs etc to ensure our Critical path is aligned with theirs.

6. Prompts supplier to complete spec info – including component data, box size confirmation, product weights etc.

7. 2-3 weeks after Silver seal approval, checks with supplier that production tooling is complete and material ordering is underway.

8. Routinely chases relevant party (customer/supplier/UK team) to ensure stages on NPI workflow are up to date. Video conferences are held weekly - must have information on any issues, risks and late items. Specific points or questions on the VC agenda must be investigated prior to the meeting and an agenda response email sent to the UK team.

9. Contacts supplier one month prior to LRD - expediting any outstanding issues (informing NPI project manager and Supply chain of any potential LRD delays).

10. Contacts supplier by phone four weeks prior to LRD to ensure Gold seal meetings (or samples sent to office) are arranged. Find out potential issue in advance then coordinate and resolve, also keep head office informed.

11. Ensures NPI workflow is updated with inspection dates, inspection results and shipped dates (with help from relevant QA/supply chain colleagues) Informs NPI manager of any inspection failures and late shipment dates.

12. Effective day to day leadership, management, communication and coordinate with related departments.

13. Continually review, develop and improve procedures and the efficiency.

14. Assist superior to optimize resource and improve the standard of service.
    
    

    Requirements:
    1. At least 3 years of working experience as Merchandiser or Project management specialist in lighting manufacturing, trading company or buying office.
    2. Very good understanding of project management and product development process for lighting product.
    3. Basic knowledge of logistic, shipment, quality control, inspection and European standard.
    5. Understanding priority and able to apply it in daily work, and good time management skills.
    6. Effective and Good communication skills.
    7. Good attention to detail and be self-motivated and enthusiastic, team spirit.

    8. Excellent spoken and written English, communicate with head office and client directly.
    9. Computer Literacy.

National Lighting (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. (“NLSC”) is the China office of The National Lighting Company Limited (“NLC”). Which consists of Brilliant AG, Poole Lighting, Endon and Saxby (the “Lighting Group”). These companies are all involved in the design and sourcing of lighting fixtures. NLSC is located in Shenzhen, and works closely with Chinese lighting fixture manufacturers. The role of NLSC is to work in partnership with the Lighting Group to ensure that products sourced from China and supplied to the Lighting Group are consistently and efficiently supplied on time, in full and to specification. In order to fulfil its role the NLSC provides specialist services including: Supply Chain Management, Product Development, Quality Assurance & Control, Order Processing, Administration, Purchasing & Sourcing and Factory Development.
NLSC is a key contributor to the overall success of NLC and works under the direction NLC staff located in the UK and in close partnership with NLC staff.
