Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Legal and Compliance professional to be in charge of the full spectrum of legal and compliance for new business in Shenzhen, China. This position will report to General Manager based in Shenzhen and also have a functional reporting line to the Regional General Counsel and, as regards compliance matters, to the Regional Compliance Officer, both based in Hong Kong.

Job description
？ Overall responsibility for all legal, corporate and regulatory matters.
？ Act as company secretary and assume overall responsibility for the corporate affairs.
？ Act as Compliance Officer.
？ Provide technical and hands on legal and compliance advice to the management team and business units by advising, developing and implementing legal and compliance solutions aligned to business strategy, philosophy and plans, as well as supporting day-to-day legal, regulatory and compliance support to the business.
？ Ensure the company operates in compliance with the requirements of Group as well as all relevant laws and regulations.
？ Implement/adapt and manage compliance programs by defining scope, setting milestones, delegating tasks, tracking progress and reporting project results to ensure successful and efficient implementation.
？ Provide advice on regulations, compliance sanctions laws and other regulatory requirements affecting the business activities and actively manage the relationships with key regulatory bodies by acting as the main interface.
？ Collaborate with regional and group functions, internal partners and multi-disciplinary teams to guide development of company policies and best practices.

Required Experience:
？ Relevant professional qualifications such as LL.B degree from a leading university and ideally LL.M or similar degree obtained abroad.
？ Significant management experience at a senior level and industry experience in both Life and General Insurance.
？ Track record of effectively managing change and achieving business results.
？ Thorough understanding of legislation, insurance business and industry practices.
？ Understanding the commercial impact of Compliance policy and decision making.
？ Fluent in Mandarin and English. Fluent in Cantonese is a plus.
