General Overview:
Gore Shenzhen Venting Business Group team within the Performance Solution Division of W.L. Gore & Associates is looking for an energetic, flexible, organized and high performing Master Scheduler to join our Venting DDFT team. This position is a temporary role (2 years) for Venting Business Group. The Master Scheduler is responsible for managing, establishing, reviewing, and maintaining a master schedule to support the business and operations strategies. S/he needs to ensure the alignment of the master scheduling strategy with the business strategy to position the business to meet the goals of sales, finance, and manufacturing. The Master Scheduler participates in the Sales and Operations Planning process and works with the Master Planner and Demand Planner to translate the production plan into a time-phased build schedule for the next 3 – 6 months or the specified time period according to the business’s supply chain model as well as to help determine inventory stocking strategy. S/he will develop strategic objectives that focus on continuous improvement areas of cost, flexibility, productivity, and speed. The Master Scheduler will work with asset schedulers as well as procurement to provide a mid-term view of demand that will translate into an executable production schedule. S/he must balance satisfying business key metrics and strategic objectives for service, inventory targets and operational costs.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains valid master production schedules within a firm planned horizon for the manufacturing site(s) for both in-house and outsourced manufacturing.
- Creates and maintains a firm master production schedule by translating the production plan (product family) into a master production schedule for all their responsible finished goods (FG’s), intermediates (includes internally supplied materials) and contracted manufacturing.
- Responds timely to action/exception messages from the ERP system in order to maintain valid, stable and realistic production schedules.
- Interfaces with Customer Service (responsible for order promising and quoting lead times) and the Demand Planning team as needed to mitigate demand control events
- Develops and provides FG production options
- Manages the Master Production Schedule to support changes in demand or supply to provide committed customer service levels within the planning time fence.
- Communicates between the Operations, Customer Service, Procurement, Master Planner, Asset Scheduler, and Demand Planner as required and ensures supply issues are resolved due to manufacturing or supplier issues.
- Identifies and assists to resolve conflicts with supply and demand, and availability of capacity.
- Establishes and communicates stable and valid master schedules to Asset Scheduler
- Utilizes “what-if” simulations to evaluate proposed Master Production Schedule changes to determine the impact on parts, materials, and capacity, both labor and material.
- Partners with the Master Planner in determining the primary or alternate routings to use in support of the manufacturing and planning process as well as maintaining the ERP resource allocations.
- Interacts as needed with business, sales, marketing, demand management, procurement, and manufacturing leadership to effectively plan the resources required to meet anticipated demand
- Supports established target inventory levels and capacity-to-demand ratios for assigned business unit(s).
- Utilizes Rough-cut Capacity Planning tools within ERP system to determine when production may exceed the desired capacity-to-demand ratio in order to provide sufficient short or medium-term production capacity.
- Reviews and reports all planning of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and improvement plans monthly. Contributes to Continuous Improvement activities.
- Participates in S&OP Supply Review and operations planning meetings as required.
- Participate in setting/maintaining MRP master data planning parameters, lead times, order modifiers, stocking levels and time fences for both Supply Plans and detail Master Production Schedules.
Qualifications
- University graduate Degree in Manufacturing, Operations or Logistics
- 3 years + work experience in production& material planning in a senior capacity in big multinational manufacturing companies is preferred
- Project management skills, PMP certification preferred
- Good understanding of MRP/ERP system (such as MES/E1 is preferred.)
- Strong communication skills, Situational Flexibility
- Strong ability to drive implementation plans and schedules, Flexible, self-driven, result-orientated and open minded
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- English and Chinese Language – Verbal and written fluency
- Willingness to travel periodically
The following skills would be an advantage
- APICS certification preferred
- Strong systems and analytical skills
- Experience in CM management
