MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Thermal modeling, simulation and measurement for LED Retrofit lamp system
- Build up thermal model, perform thermal simulation
- Design and organize thermal experiments
- Verify and improve thermal modeling by analysis the measurement data
Thermal design for LED Retrofit lamp system
- Core member during new lamp platform definition and feasibility study
- Interact with system architect, technical project leader and other team members to deliver the state-of-art thermal design: cost effective, max thermal performance, reliable thermal stability during lifetime (eg. proper thermal interface design)
Thermal competence
- Support competence leader to organize competence team activity
- Actively participate and contribute to the Thermal Competence team
- Scout, benchmark and bring new/emerging thermal technology, materials and solutions into our product design in order to improve the performance, lower the cost, and realize never-possible features
- Maintain and upgrade the thermal measurement capability (equipment and methodology) to ensure the quality of thermal data is accurate and reliable
- Being an active member in the SSL related competence network within Philips to leverage knowledge (GBU LRM, Light Labs, Consumer Luminaries, Prof. Luminaries, and etc.)
- Other special assignments when needed
 Support on competence development: provide coaching and training on thermal technology for competence team; involve in competence team project to drive for new breakthrough on thermal design for LED lighting products.
REQUIREMENTS
Thermal design and cooling methods, measurement techniques
Analysis of product specification and actual design
Define applicable test specifications and test set up
Perform temperature measurements on products.
First risk analysis for products with spreadsheet tools and hand calculations
Estimations of temperature effect of construction changes with spreadsheet tools and hand calculations
Test of (proposed) adaptations and trouble shooting
Value engineering skills/mentality
Computer programs of Windows, thermal Excel spreadsheets.
Use of conversion programs like IGES.
Understanding of Product Creation Process
Understanding of and skilled in use of tools like FMEA and Risk management
Broad technical base (preferably Lighting Systems, i.e. including fixtures)
Good communicator
Good ability to speak & understand English
Ability to work in cross functional teams Motivational skills
Be proud of sharing knowledge
Sense of urgency and high resilience level
Strong execution and ability of driving for result
